    greatest

brien taylor-east carteret. threw rocks at bats (think vampires not eastons) as a kid. developed ridiculous velocity. drafted #1 by the yankees and career was cut short in a fight at a local car wash. everybody knows or has probably heard about his pitching, but brien was one of the fastest kids alive as well. a lefty hitter, brien would routinely beat out ground balls to second base.

Unfortunately, I played in SC...great players there, too. I remember Jim Rice, Dan Driessen, Mookie Wilson, Dewey "Lamarr" Hoyt and others that were more talented but injuries cut their careers short.

Of course, I knew Shoeless Joe when he had shoes.

im not sure where hes from or where he went to school but he played for the dirtbags this year... a kid by the name of Tyler Hanover... i had the opportunity to play against him and he might not be the best ive ever seen but he played the hardest ive ever seen... our coach looked at us after a hard game and pointed him out and said thats the way the game is supposed to be played... hes heading to lsu from what i hear... he was pretty good... best ive ever seen play... probably Bumgarner... we faced him about 8 times on the hill in his highschool career at south... imagine this... he played with the flew in 40 degree weather at our house and still pumped it 91 92 93... hats off to him

"AD" as we affectionately called him was smart as a whip. Could have made a great manager, but he was no ballplayer. Hence, I didn't list him

Aguyyouknow- That was cool that you mentioned Bob Horner. He set the college HR mark as a freshman (at the time). We played them (ASU) in the CWS when Horner played 2nd base. The best compact swing I have ever seen.
