Is it all about you and what you can get from the team? Or is it about being a part of a team and reaping the rewards for not only yourself but helping others do the same? What about the other guys? What if they find themselves with no team mates to help them achieve their goals? Why did you join the team you are on? Was it to play with the best players you could play with in order to get a better opportunity to be seen? What about the guys that have not made a college decision yet? Are they to be left with a lesser team because you have "gotten yours"?

And what about just playing because you love to play the game? Or were you just playing in order to be "seen"? And now that you have reaped the benefits of this Team you see them as no longer needed by you. I wonder how your team mates feel about this? Especially the ones still uncommitted to a college. How would you feel?

Maybe Im old fashioned or "Old School" as they say. But I have always thought it was important to finish the job. And the job is not finished untill all the "other guys" are taken care of. And the job is not finished untill the commitment is fullfilled.

If we were roofing house's on the weekends and you had your roofing scholley in hand I could see you needing a break or resting because you were worn out. But if baseball wears you out or you are not excited about playing the game - college baseball might not be the best fit for you?

If this post offends anyone then ask yourself this question. Why? Because its the truth? Or you dont like someone telling you what you dont like to hear? The truth!

Coach...the parts that I bolded are the reasons I feel that the thread that you started took on so many tangents. You were really not very specific with your post. I am really not trying to be rude or critical, but just posting what my thought process is.

No where in your post did you mention showcase team...only the word team. That word, depending on who is reading it can mean so many things to anyone that reads it. How were other readers who read that post to know of your intentions without you specifying?
You spoke of loyalty to your team and finishing the job. Those phrases also mean different things to different people. It wasn't until much later in the thread did you specify that you were talking about finishing the season. For me, loyalty and finishing the job goes beyond that, so I was posting based on my interpertation. If you would have been specific and let the readers know upfront that you wanted their input on kids finishing the season they started...I don't think things would have taken quite the turn they did.
Is it all about you and what you can get...opened the door for the discussion of the "I" mentality.

I post on message boards very seldom, because for me it takes forever to try and post my thoughts so they really say what I want them to mean. I post, read, reread, correct, reread, etc. a million times. Maybe we all need to take a little more time before we hit the post button. I know as hard as I try, I still sometimes don't get my point across very well. We teach our kids responsibility and I think we all need to be more responsible when we post and not so quick to accuse others, but to see if we are part of the problem.

Double Dare Dog...I'm insulted...just kidding. I usually get along better with males because they aren't as "emotional", "tempermental" and "hormonal". But after reding some of these threads, I know where some of the males with these same tendencies gravitate to!

I have enjoyed seeing different names on this board as well, and then seeing them at baseball game, whether it's HS, State Games or Showcases games. I have also enjoyed posting the teams that I'm following and giving credit to individuals on the team that contributed to the win or an unfortuate loss. This summer and fall I have met a few people at games that seen some of my postings and said they truly enjoyed reading the posts. They picked up on some of the names and what these individuals have accomplished. They have showed up baseball games that was probably 100+ miles from their home just because they wanted to see a individual pitch that they had read about on this site. They were satisfied with the performance because they walked over to spoke before leaving.
Don't change the way post have to be formatted. Let's keep promoting kids, giving them exposure, giving them a chance to play after high school and let's give a kid they may not have a opportunity to go to college go to college by playing baseball.

    ....?

I can kind of understand what you're saying but......I somewhat disagree.

First off, I dont think any of us memorize the numbers of players from other hs teams or much less our own, so it would get very annoying trying to find out..well who is that #7 from so and so...instead of just seeing his name typed out.

Also, kids should be recognized for having good games and us showing their stats attached with their names aren't saying that they won the game for their whole team, it's just saying they helped out a lot in the victory. It's probably pretty exciting to see people congratulating you on here and knowing who you are. And it's not going to hurt another teamate to see their fellow teamate on this board being applauded for a good game.

And it helps kids to get looked at because I'm sure college scouts check out this board during the season to see whose playing well and where they are playing. And last but not least, I think we all are interested in who had great nights and what their names are instead of seeing a ton of numbers and 4-4 next to them.

Maybe I'm wrong who knows but i just dont think that can work out.
