KM's problem won't be hitting. They didn't hit that well last year, especially in the playoffs. Mo was probably the leading hitter, Red and Barrett can hit, you mentioned the slapper. Yarbro and the young girls will hit OK. The question will be if they can fill the holes on defense. Of course, when you strike out 15/16 per game, that kind of moots that point. Only the very elite teams will have a chance because of MO, then it will be a matter of making a couple plays. Pitching has, and will again take them very, very far. Enka will again be a major obstacle. If Grieve gets on base, she usually scores.

    good point

slapper's name is Scism i believe, very fast, good on base percentage. defense is going to be the key. power hitting is gone, corners are gone, catcher is gone, question is can Mo do it all???

    Pender 1-A

If everyone stays healthy I think Pender from the EAST will be a good choice for a repeat in the 1-A. Time will tell.

Been out of town, i said i would not quote on this board rocks again, but when i see someone more or less putting our girls down, man i couldnt help myself. Ed, youve been around ball long enough i would think that you would realize when you get to a certain point in the playoffs or even when you are playing late afternoon on sundays youre not going to see like 7-0, 9-6....pitching and defense usually always beats good hitting. At this point its usually a timely hit that gets the job done, and the past three years there are girls still on this team that i would want to see in game situation where a timely hit is all we need. You say pitching will only take you so far, back to back state champions is pretty damn far if you ask me. The best team does not always win, but ill take pitching, defense, and preparation anytime. Also with your other quote, we still have three girls that can go yard anytime, you say no corners, Red will hopefully get to get back to her natural position which is third. I think with the girls we have coming in, we will be able to give MO what little help she needs because a little is all she needs. MO deserves everything that is written and everything she receives, one of the hardest working girls i have ever seen. But i do want to say thank you because with quotes like your's, it only gives our girls more motivation to put the work in.

    hold on buddy

now Richard, I didnt insult anyone, least of all you dd, have never seen her play at third base, so i have no opinion on that one, but she can hit the ball a mile. this is a discussion that many are having in this area about how much km lost. it kinda comes along with winning. you lost five four year starters, which, according to some of your own parents, players and coaches, accounted for 95% of your hitting, run scoring and the neculous(sp) of you defense( and this is a direct quote). i also stated that km would make it to the state level, but i believe, like a butt load more, that they will have problems with enka this year. my big question for you is, who is gonna take kayla's spot at catching??? have never seen anyone else catch at km except heather hale??? unless i'm missing something, you went from 9 solid players to four solid players. this is one above the average for most highschool teams, and three better than my highschool team this year - lol. one more thing Richard, I have never written or said anything negative about Mo Childers, she is a great kid with excellent work ethics, i really didnt appreciate the insinuation that i had said anything bad about her. i will, however, stand by my statement about pitching. for the last four years, we've have an excellent pitcher with a limited team to back her up. it wears on a pitcher knowing that the defense is below par and not many can hit. it wears on a pitcher knowing that the other team is just waiting for you to get tired and make a mistake. Morgan Mayer had 10 games with 16-19 k's last year and we still lost all but one. back to back state championships were won with a team that basically started playing together when they were all 9-10, remember, my daughter was in that group. only one left is Mo Childers, so lets not fight, I'm still pulling for Mo, cause I have to have a team to pull for, my hs team is definately in a rebuilding year, and Mo is still the best pitcher in gaston or cleveland counties, just to mention two.

    oh yes

    N. Pitt won the 2a state championship last year basically due to one outstanding pitcher. I don't know this team personally, but have read on this forum that NP only had 2 TB players.

Ed, i think you have read my quote a little to fast. I never meant that you were taking anything away from Mo. I know for a fact you have always been supportive of Morgan, in a way I was kinda agreeing with you. I know your daughter put some stats up that any pitcher or coach would be proud of. Im just excited that my daughter has decided to play this year. Hopefully we can come close the teams kings mtn has had the last few years, but I know they will definately be putting in the work to accomplish this. Ed, hopefully i can get by to see you or you come by and get lunch. Take it easy buddy, you know me. I meant nothing by it.

I believe the top 5 for 4A in no particular order will be: Butler, Central Cabarrus, Hopewell, North Davidson, Weddington
