    North Meck 4; Providence 2

Not many hits in this game, but a few walks got north a 4-0 lead going into the 7th. Providence scrapped for 2 runs but came up short in the end. at the end of the game after the last play. Coach Hignite runs over to argue the call at first, in the process coach hignite shoves one of the north palyers to the ground. After North Meck refused to shake hands and went straight to the bus. A very bad ending to a good game

I just find it hard to believe that Coach Hignight, a guy that I know has a good amount of class, would just shove the opposing team's player to the ground. More than likely an accident...but I'd be interested to hear another take on this...

I'm with you Cake -- knowing Coach Hignite I have a hard time believing that story. I got a phone report on the game from a neutral observer that didn't include that version -- I heard something about another Providence coach chesting up against a North coach, but nothing about a player being shoved. In any event, no matter what happened, North's head coach made a mistake sending his players to the bus without allowing them to shake hands with the Providence players. What kind of message does that send?

Congrats to the North Meck team. That is a huge win. I heard Cavasini went 4-4 and Rosenbaum pitched great - somebody give us details.

The North Meck vs. AC game Friday should be a good one -- likely Tom Porter for North against Calvin Teague for AC. It is tempting to make that road trip one more time. But then again Independence at South Meck, Rocket vs. Worrell, is very inviting too. I might just have to be in two places at one time.

In reference to the North Meck vs. Providence game. The turmoil started when the last out was made and the Providence catcher ran from the dugout yelling profanities at the North players. This is why the coach told his players to go to the bus to avoid further confrontations. The Providence coach should have stayed away from the North dugout. Not sure what was said but the coach's tempers flared. What a bad display of sportsmanship. One of the Providence players struck the Noth center fielder while coming off the field after the final out. A poorly played game on both sides. Providence's defense and hitting and North's hitting. Highnight should have left his starter in. King relys on hitters that aren't hitting and sits players capable of getting the job done. North has flown on defense and pitching all season. That is going to catch up with them. No one likes to lose but you need to learn how to do both (win or lose) graciously! Providence did not reflect this tonite!

And...I believe that this is the same Providence catcher that badly injured South Meck's catcher back on 5/6 during the final regular season South Meck vs. Providence game as well, I believe, on a play at home where the Providence catcher was trying to score from 3rd to home...was clearly out coming home but...decided to try and make South Meck's catcher drop the ball by coming in to home like a linebacker instead of just making a legal slide in to home plate, isn't it?!?!?!?! :scared2: :nono: :scared2:

I think we need to be careful about who we say did what and when. The first person out from the Providence side was their 1st baseman, not the catcher. There were several stories floating around before the night was over and I'm sure there will always be two sides to the story.

I think it was a game filled with anticipation and frustration and pitted two really good teams. I have some reservations towards both teams though about how they conducted themselves.

I agree...already, there has been some misinformation posted about what happened. Let's don't flame the fire! The games over...let's try to move on before it gets ugly.

I'm sure both coaches regret the incident

I was there and I also agree with Braves ... no one that is posting was on the field and actually heard everything. The dugout position at Providence can block the field so you can't see all that's happening either.

There have been too many guesses and partial observations posted. We need to just "let it lie" ....

Conversely, I thought the two starters, Zack Rosenbaum (Jr. NM) and Alex Martin (Sr. Providence) threw great. They were changing speeds, using both sides of the plate and mixing their pitches very well. The hitters on both teams were totally off balance most of the night with the exception of Cavasinni (he got 4 of the 9 hits in the game). Both showed very good control also. The lack of hitting in the game (and the relatively tight score) is a direct reflection on how hard they played and how well they did.
