I may have missed this announcement, but one of my girls asked about all state selection this year and I checked with Tim at IHIGH and was informed that due to lack of funding, there would be no all state selection this year. This is definately a total let down for all the girls who have worked so hard to earn this distinction. I would like to ask what could we possibly do to insure that this will not ever happen in the future? My wife and I would have gladly donated the money it would have taken to keep this from happening. any comments would be appreciated. :thud: what a let down for so many!!!!

I'm curious, how have the selections been funded in the past, who makes the selections, and why does selecting a list of players need funding? I, too, feel badly for all the girls who have worked so hard, missing out on this recognition.Did baseball, track, soccer, football, basketball, etc. also miss out on this selection?????????

    Message from IHIGH

Tim from IHIGH has responded and stated that no all state teams were selected for any winter or spring sports due to lack of manpower. He also stated that without a sponsor to the tune of $15000.00 to $20,000 (the salary of one person), there would probably not be any all state selections next year also. Thisis a situation that needs to be addressed NOW!!!!! perhaps the NC athletic commission need to be addressed or the new high school coaches association needs to take on this responsibility. ANY SUGGESTIONS??????!!!!!! Lets get it going now!!

    Something smells about this ....

In baseball, the All-state selections are done by the Noth Carolina High School Baseball Coaches Association. IHigh mearly publishes their press release.

The All-state selections that were present were announced at the Junior/Senior state games in baseball. This happened in June.

..... maybe the HS Softball Coaches Association needs to get THEIR act together.

IHIGH merely publishes both All State teams is correct. The Softball Association is just getting things organized now that the HS season is complete and Eddie Rivers leadership is "at work". As NCBBallFan knows, it takes time to organize and iron out issues in ANY first-year association and their acts will come together!

Please contiune sharing your players that desire the recongization(on field and off)thoughts, opinions, insight with TBR Softball and before you know it.......problem solved!

I agree, perhaps it would be better if the HS softball coaches assoc takes over on this. In the original email from IHIGH, it was stated that no all state teams from any winter or spring sport were being selected. I'm glad to see that baseball has a coaches association. This incident could be the spark that sets the softball coaches association into motion. A girl who works so hard to make all state, shouldn't be punished due to lack of funds. Pops, I know your currently under the weather, but can you find out what its going to take to make this a non-repeating situation???

To cheese105, I have posted a new thread on the site that should give you some information on our status in choosing an All-State team. Hope it will clear up some muddy waters. Thanks for the get well wishes!
