East Meck also has another star baseball player, Olen Little. Olen is the #1 RH pitcher at East Meck and also plays RF. Olen and Leighton are uncommitted. Both were team MVPs, both were All-Conference (Southwestern 4A), both played in the Battle at the Border All Star game, and both played for CBC this summer. Olen was also all-conference and all-county in football. I believe he is getting a lot of looks for football and baseball but his first love is baseball. He would be a steal for a college baseball (or football) program. These two young men are leaders on and off the field and especially in the classroom!

    Name: Stephen McKinney
School: Cary HS (Will play with Dirtbags this fall)
    Position: 1B / 3B / OF
Facts: Versatile, played 8 different positions junior year at CHS. Led team in doubles, hits, and batting average (.375). Stephen is a hardworker who improves everyday. Good shape academically.

    Name: Joe Pistacchio
School: Green Hope HS (West Wake Wildcats showcase)
    Position: RHP
Facts: Mid-Upper 80's fastball. 86-87 summer '09. Plus slider. Plus change. Joe's a gamer who wants the ball in his hand when the game is on the line.

I also want to second whoever mentioned the Dula kid from the Mooresville area. He can really pitch, throws gas. Upper 80's, lower 90's.

East Rowan appears to be headed to another very successful season next year with all these guys coming back or moving up. If they hit, they will be tough, because they have the pitching.

I love this young man. He's such a great competitor! He bounced back having to sit out a season after a football injury; helped lead a surprisingly tough East Meck team to their 1st playoff's in 5 seasons.

This kid is the starting Varsity QB---so he's tough as nails. There's no quitting in Olen...he's a great leader, outstanding student and fun to be around. Very, very mature!

    2010 Class uncommitted

    NAME: Scotty Williams

    SCHOOL: Lake Norman High

    POSITIONS: Left handed pitcher

FACTS: Kid was 8-1 last year on the 3A State Championship team. Throwing as their number two pitcher, his only loss was in the 2nd game of the state finals against E. Wayne 3-0. Hitting let him down in that one. Throws in mid to high 80's. Good breaking pitch and change. Great pick-off move to first, uses 45 degree plus, to his advantage.

    NAME: Tyler Lewis

    SCHOOL: Lake Norman
    CBC Diamond Rats (Summer/Fall)

    POSITIONS: OF, LHP, 1St Base

FACTS: Was a first baseman until this year when was moved to left field to fill a gap for Lake Norman. Completed the move by carrying a perfect fielding percentage and batting an even .400 in what some called the toughest 3A conference in the state. Also had 2 HRs, one of which was a grand-slam in a 6-2 win in state semi-finals against Tuscola. (Throws left, bats left) Had 2-0 pitching record for LKN. Throws low to mid 80's. Good breaking pitch and change. Good Student in the classroom.

    NAME: Nick Keith

    SCHOOL: Lake Norman
    CBC Diamond Rats (fall)
    POSITION: 3rd Base

FACTS: Nick is a contact hitter, although has shown signs of power recently. This kid has one of the best eye for the strike-zone of any kid I have seen at his age. Very seldon strikes-out and can handle pressure situations with the best of them. Had several game winning hits this past year for LKN including a 2 run walk off single with 2 outs and 2 strikes in the bottom of 7th against E.Rowan in the state play-offs. Outstanding glove and good arm. Great Student in the classroom.

This is just a thought for the players that haven't garnered the interest they believe they should.

Freddy Suggs is having an ID Camp Aug 30 at Wingate University. Although the camp is designed to identify players for the CCProspect teams, it is also another avenue to display your skills in front of a recommending scout.

One unique thing about Coach Suggs is he will take the time after the camp to speak with any player wanting to discuss their future. There's not a coach that he doesn't have on speed dial. If he believes you are a college talented player, he won't hesitate to help you with your dream.

There are very few people in our state that have the contacts and respect from the college coaches than Freddy Suggs. You may want to think about contacting him.
