Guys, in all fairness, keep in mind that "blue" don't have slow-motion or frame-by-frame pics to go by,,,,,,,, he must make instant calls, which sometimes can get tough.

However, am curious, what was his call on the pickoff move to 1B ??? (4th pic from top)

Btw, not that it matters, but flying helmets don't impress me either.

The call on the pick off was "out." Seemed like the right call at the time. Definitely not a coin flip.

I'm not sure these photos prove anything. The North SS said he blocked the bag on the tag at second, which seems plausible looking at the photos. The North fans liked the call. The AK fans did not. What a shock.

The stands are a long way from the field at North. Let's face it, fans--especially parents--see what they want to see a lot of the time. As do coaches and players. The bang-bang plays only go our way about 50% of the time. Rather than dwell on the umpires, we should congratulate the players on their efforts and move on.

I wouldn't want to be an ump. (unless I was getting paid six figures to do it.) Hell I remember one time when Andy called Opie out at home. And he was safe. At least that's what the picture said...

That is my point, that umpiring is not easy.

And btw, the runner at 1B does appear to be out by the picture,,,,,,,,,,,,, oh yea and Wossa I agree Opie was safe...
