Rob Woodard (UNC-Ch) was selected by the Cardinals with the 28th pick of the 46th round (1390th overall)

Wow! All I can say is wow. No way on God's green earth that there are 1,389 players better than Rob.

I'm glad to see Matt selected. If he didn't have to battle injuries throught out the year, he would have been selected much higher

I assume Mike Shildt had a hand in this selection, but it ain't going to happen. Robert will be returning to finish college. This is a slap in the face:banginghe ...but he will rebound and it will make him even better.

That sucks for Woody. I loved playing with him and Daniel Bard growing up and in AAU ball. I definitely thought he'd be in the top 20 rounds or at least top 30 rounds. He has great offspeed pitches and I think he has even better stats than Bard, but I know has more upside, especially with his fastball being able to reach in the mid 90's. Haven't heard Gib Hobson's name in a long time. I remember him playing for the Piedmont Panthers AAU team in 2000 or 2001. Woodard had his number when Hobson was on the mound

Wow, Benton got drafted and Ackley and Johnson didn't. That's surprising. It's not a knock on Benton at all.
