i think a coach's organization would be a wonderful idea. i personally would like to see something where we as a group could put some pressure on the organizations around to change some of their thinking. while howard and nsa are trying to come up with some new and innovative ideas the rest of the org. are still running the same ole' tourneys or are trying to do whats easiest for them and not the girls. i would also like to see some more affordable coach's clinics which this organization could push towards. i for one know i would benefit from advice or ideas from other coaches. while i coach my youngest daughter in travel(will be going to high school at parkland year after next throwing 55 at 12 years old with 5 different pitches and my oldest is in her first year there and hopefully will be starting catcher this year, keep an ear out for her i'm biased but i believe she is very good) and i have been around very good coaches in my time there is always room to learn. as far as middle school ball in forsyth county goes they are trying again this weekend to get enough sign ups to play this year. we have been pushing for this for three years now with no progress. we get no help from the school system whatsoever (they only send out a flyer once and not all girls seem to get it) but we keep trying year after year, and that is something the coach's organization could work towards also. bottom line is that we all need to work towards and thats the betterment of all these girls as a whole and put north carolina on the map for fastpitch

    Our Middle School

SVMS in the past did not care if sports existed. Then we got a new Principal who is a big help in supporting our kids. Big HELP!! The sports programs for Middle Schools in Union County are run by booster clubs thou. Saying that and trying not to cut down boosters, each child has to become a member in order to play their sport so therefore the booster clubs should take more time and help get the word out along with the parents. And in turn we parents can not complain about the boosters efforts if we are not willing to do our part and one of those parts is by attending meetings and letting our opinions be heard. Coaches Organizations are an awesome idea. Help from the work horses themselves will be huge. Count me in also...Good Luck to y'all in getting your Middle School Softball off the ground. We were fortunate last year to have 25 girls tryout & 30 girls this year. In the past that number has been much lower. It does make our future look very bright even with the new Porter Ridge school starting up this Fall.
Bmac1, let us know if you are going to arrange a meeting for a Coaches Organization. thanks

Sure thing Curveblue. My first thoughts would be to have an initial meeting this spring to gauge the interest, then a formal organizational meeting this fall. That would enable time over the summer for everyone interested to spread the word, consider the purpose(s) for the association while also finding nominees for the board. As CF mentioned earlier, this time of year most everyone is busy with planning, practicing and playing, so I would think we would want to get this thing off the ground at a time when everyone has a little more time. Just my thoughts. I'm certainly open to other thoughts, ideas and suggestions.
