I agree that when you have that many hits it will be hard to lose. But how many of them hits were after a 2 out error or something like that. Saint played good but AC didn't help themselves out at all.

The umpire could have decided to call it a disqualification after the game Friday. A DQ would allow the Coach to coach in his next game. Thats something that officials have the right to do.

2 technicals in basketball is an automatic ejection but it can be changed to a DQ at the discretion of the calling official.

    Hickory 8
    Watauga 5

Hickory homers 3 times in the 4th to take a lead. Watauga scored two in the fifth to get ahead, but a 4 run 6th inning for the Tornadoes secured the win.

    South Caldwell 3
    Saint Stephens 2

South gained the #1 seed in the State Playoffs with the win over Saint and will face Hickory in the championship game tomorrow at 7.

    South 3 Saint 2

Very well pitched game by both Tyler Bumgarner and Cade Vance.

Vance made 2 mistakes and paid for both, while Bumgarner was seemingly in control the entire night (2-hitter with 9 K's) with 3 pitches doing exactly what he wanted them to do.

The Indians made a game of it, but let a couple of opportunities slide by.

    Leading Hitters for South
Jon Gray had an RBI Triple
Blake Johnson solo shot in the bottom of the 6th that proved to be the game-winner.

Saint's Jacob Hoyle had each of their hits, a single and a 2 RBI double that tied the game in the top of the 6th.

South gets the 4A #1 playoff seed while Saint earns the 3A #3 seed and will probably head to RS Central next Friday

Good luck to South and Hickory in tonight's Championship game.
