Should be a fun year in womens hoops as well. I know theres alot of talking on the men's board but we all have to sit through the women's games before the men so whats everyone thinking?

    Me?

    1. McDowell (Machine)
    2. Freedom (Too much Allie)
    3. East Burke (Didn't lose to many)
    4. AC Reynolds (Not much but better than whats below)
    5. South (lost Hobbs but Parham is a good coach)
    6. Watauga (will steadily improve with Anderson, lack of certain things will haunt it)
    7. Alexander (Whens Softball start?)

I cannot see why Freedom would be ranked 6th in the state. They lost Bri Morrison (All-Conf. player) and gained nothing from the JV team, unless I'm overlooking someone (and that could be possible). They finished tied for 3rd in conf. last year. Freedom always seems to get alot of preseason respect (last year ranked in the Charlotte sweet 16), on tradition of the past. They do have one of the best players in the state and Chelsea Connely, but 1 great player and 1 good player doesn't make you a great team. JMO for what it's worth. They will be very tough in the conf. though.

That being said my picks are:

    1. McDowell--because they are that good
    2. East Burke--didn't loose but one player from a solid 2nd place '07 team
    3. Freedom--will be very tough but about the same 3rd place team as last year
    4. ACR--could finish higher with an upset
    5. Watauga--i think they are better than they played last year
    6. South--better than Alex Cent...still capable of an upset win
    7. Alex Cent--long year for the cougars

Then why would you pick them to finish above Mcdowell, who won the conference last year and only lost one starter from last years squad?

Because I know nothing about any team but Watauga and that I saw Freedom ranked 6th in a pre season poll so that's why! I mean it was just a prediction

Now that's the kind of refreshing honesty you rarely find on a message board.
