    Good game to watch. After a shaky first inning, the Pioneers settled down and played well. Reilly gets the win striking out 9 of the last 11 outs.

    Good luck to both teams.

    Great game in Boone! Congrats to Watauga...

    Barton 2 for 3, 1 BB - 2 runs scored
    Newell 2 for 3 - 1 run scored, 3 RBI's
    Haas - 2 runs scored
    Trathen 2 for 3 - 2 RBI's, 2B, 1 run scored

    varsity.. mcdowell beat ac 2-1 friday. a walk and then a error followed by a doulbe plated both runs.all with 2 outs. it was good to have coach bolick and coach mike swanson back after missing thursday`s game . bolick was out for medical reasons and swanson had a construction contest with his students. next game is tuesday at a.c. reynolds.

    jv`s... mcdowell and ac split a double header friday. mcdowell won the 1st 3-1 and ac won the 2nd 8-2.1st game went extra innings . ashleigh willamson pitched well in the loss. 2nd game ac scored all 8 runs in the 2nd inning.megan laxton got the win. ac had 10 hits in the game jordan poarch had 2 to lead the way. 2 good game between 2 good teams . 1st loss of the year for both teams ! next game for ac is today(maybe) at freedom vs butler! then tuesday @ a.c. reynolds. game time for the butler is 6pm.

    Not sure how McDowell managed to win one of two games against that Alexander Central team on Friday night. The AC team that met Butler in the Freedom Park Saturday evening was pretty impressive. Coaches are lucky to have two quality pitchers to draw from in a young team. Laxton lead off strong supported by solid defense. Williamson, the southpaw, pitched the remainder of ACs 4 - 2 win over a very talented Butler team. Great job ladies.:woohoo:

    what a big win for the young lady cougars! 7 freshman in the starting line up! jordan poarch had 2 hits and 2 rbis. kirstin morris had 2 hits and played a great game at ss. chelsea sherrill had a 2b and courtney baker played a good game a 2nd. ashleigh williamson bounced back from the loss to mcdowell and turned in her best game in a cougar uniform. game was tied 2-2 when butler had the go a head run on at 3rd with 0 outs in the 6th. morris snagged and grounder and held the runner on and got the out , pop out to ss, then a k and we get out of the inning tied. ashley jones walks to lead of the 7th, and with 2 outs poarch smacked a 2b followed by ashley benfied with a 2b and we are up 4-2. again a big when for achs and hopefully this will lead on into the rest of the season. butler has a very good team. it was my understanding that they have not lost in 3 yrs? c.c. beat them also saturday.

    Freedom is 13-3 and has a huge week with Watauga on Tuesday and @ Reynolds on Thursday
