Looks like it is going to be an interesting season in the good ‘ol NorthWestern 4A this year! My opinion, Coach Fox, and his team, has done a heck of a job! Can Freedom upset ACR? You know what they say, “on any given day”!!!! Important note, dedication of new lighted facility to take place (obviously, if weather permits play) tomorrow (Tuesday) prior to game. Big night and something I never thought I would see at FHS!

    Freedom 7
    Reynolds 5

This was a game for the ages....Freedom jumps ahead 3-0 when Kaylee Davis hits a first pitch solo home run and the Patriots get two more. Reynolds responds by getting two runs in the 3rd and one in the 4th to pull even. Freedom jumps ahead in the 5th when the rains intensified and threatened to be called. That was until the top of the 7th with a runner at 2nd, Erin Geier hits a mammoth 2-run homer over the scoreboard to tie the game at 5.

But Freedom responds as they load the bases pitching to reliable Lane Harriger....Harriger slaps a single down the third base line to score in two runs to win the game.

By far, the best game ever in Freedom Fastpitch history. Freedom is now 9-1, 2-0 in the Northwestern 4A Conference. The best start ever. Another big showdown at The New Freedom Park on Friday when they host South Caldwell.

    Freedom- ACR

Like Tar Heel said- GREAT GAME-

Both teams played well- Freedom let ACR know they were ready to play with Davis's lead off HR. Freedom played long ball, small ball, and manufactured runs when needed. Coach Brow walked All-State Jessica McKee to load the bases to face freshman Brooke Ellis and Ellis laced a double on the first pitch down the line to win it. Harriger rbi was in the 6th.

Ashley Hasson (freshman) picked up her second win in the conference and pitched very well- she let her defense play and they made several gems. She made two mistakes- both to Gier- a double and a two run monster shot over the scoreboard. That's why she's going to college! Great player..

If Freedom can defeat South then we've got a great match-up @ Alexander on Tuesday as both teams could be undefeated in conference.

    We'll see what happens!!!

Both teams played very well and FHS freshman shine again! Pitcher Ashley Hasson has stepped up and, in back to back games, had a strong showing. Great way to start the night with the one pitch, one run home run by Kaylee Davis. Ashley Harrell and Jessica Mckee gloves continue to be a very strong presence on the left side. Also nice to see Emily Grady, who has been called on to catch while the injured Senior Erin Cross recovers, hit a nice drive down the right field line for an RBI last night. Freshman Jasmine Conley, with a high light reel catch in left to lead off the top of the 7th, gets another RBI and it was Freshman Brooke Ellis who drove in the winning run last night (Harriger had a Sac Fly RBI in the 6th) in the bottom of the 7th with one out. Solid performance by the team, great coaching decisions and good win for the Patriots.

Man, two BIG upsets to start the conference. First SC and now Reynolds. Hope we don't get in on this tonight at East Burke. I would have lost the farm on both those games. I still think Starnes and SC will be to strong for Freedom on Friday. Who does Reynolds play Friday?

What type of injury does Erin have? Hope everything is healing well.
Now central-d, I don't think Freedom thinks their game was an upset. They have been pretty confident from the beginning. Confidence can carry you places. Just as long as no team gets over cofident. Over confidence can put you in your place.:lalala:

Erin had a very, very minor twisted knee. She has recuperated extremely well and should be back in the line-up any day. Just as a footnote - this excellent student and fine athlete has a firm commitment to play at Montreat College near Asheville, NC. In my opinion, excellent find by Montreat Coaching staff!!!!!
