    To Each his own

I think the term to each his own would apply here. My daughter always knew that she liked the idea of having a class size of about 20, as far as stadium vs. field goes she says the stadium is for the fans. She will be playing on the "field" just like the bigger schools with 3 bases, a homeplate, an outfield and a pitching rubber. She also says that she has used all methods of transportation to get to games before and she is not impressed one way or the other with HOW she gets there...she just wants to get there, play AND get a good education.

    Nope

While this may be the way things operate at Pfeiffer it's not mandated anywhere. Most coaches do want to honor scholarships and there are sanctions associated with not graduating athletes but there are no graduated dollar sanctions like this post suggests, at least not until a school has a significant pattern of failure to graduate student athletes in a specific sport and is formally sanctioned.

    You're way off base here

Chairing the Faculty Athletics Committee at one of NC's major universities I know the rules pretty well. I said nothing to disparage Pfieffer. My DD and the coach there are good friends and I have a great deal of respect for the job he has done there turning around a moribund program. Many schools have internal policies like the one you mentioned at Pfieffer but it is a FACT that the NCAA does not madate such.

....Hey Duke, you wrote "maybe thats how Pfieffer operates" in your post.
That appeared disparaging to me, but I fully accept your kind words of Pfieffer and Coach Bradley to be genuine so I'll drop it from my end.

Now, you say that you know the rules pretty well, and I respect your opinion, so if you would please, explain how this rule is applied. Or tell me why no such rule exists.

Thanks, and congrats to Meredith for representing USA in Germany.

Now if we could just get everyone to add Pfeiffer to their spell checker.

Just right-click on the word and select Add to Dictionary.
