ok lets break this down, its pretty interesting.....

West Rowan and Northwest are in the 1 & 2 spots, everyone knows that. Mooresville for the moment is holding on to the 3rd playoff spot with a 5-5 record, but they also have 4 games left in conference play, which is good for Kannapolis (6-6) and East Rowan (6-6) who only have 2 games left. Kannapolis is in the best shape and can greatly help themselves out if they can beat Northwest this friday, (which can be done by the looks of the first 2 games). Another thing helping kannapolis out is that East plays WR and mooresville this week (weather permitting). Both very tough games for them. Mooresville plays West Rowan as well and they have mooresville as i said, and they are also scheduled to play statesville, i dont know the other though, maybe North Iredell. Ive seen both Lackey and Haire pitch this year against Kannapolis and those are the only 2 guys they would want on the mound in these last crucial games, but as i said, they have 4 games not 2! Heres how i see it playing out........ Mooresville b/c of the pitching situation wont win more than 2 of these next 4 games. That would put them at (7-7). East Rowan in my opinion is not on the same level as kannapolis but have proven to be very tough at times, remember they are still EAST ROWAN! They have a shot at the final spot but i dont think they will get it. IF it comes to a playoff i think Kannapolis has the best shot of the 3 teams.

The weather could help Mooresville split their pitching better if more make up games get rained out this week...really it could go either way. Mooresville sure has dug itself a hole with some close loses to the front runners. But you're right, we arent deep at all on the mound, thats baseball for ya. It would'nt suprise me to see Ktown end up in the third spot either.

    Coin flip???

We "ALL" are going to find out very soon enough. Right now, these young men just need to go out and "take care of business" by winning their own games. You can't get caught up in watching the scoreboard; otherwise, someone whom you don't expect will beat you.

I just hope that with this final week, as exciting as the season has went, that this all don't come down to a da** coin flip. Hopefully the playoff spots will be decided on the field, not by flipping a coin...

Btw, if I could choose who had the best situation between Mooresville, Kannapolis & East Rowan,,, I would surely take Mooresville despite what you guys say about pitching. Because they are in the best shape in the "loss" column. Right now, the 3rd playoff spot is "theirs" to lose...

Kannapolis must not look ahead to NW Cabarrus. They must take care of business against N Iredell first. This should be a wild final week of the season.Good luck to all teams, especially K-Town.

i think a certain gotitall is gonna step up and a dun is gonna help him on the side, kannapolis has been fighting for a playoff spot before like last year and came through, they will do it again this year.

Mooresville has to "pick it's spots" now and roll the dice ... They need an outing with their #4 guy with their #3-#1 guys each doing no more than 1 inning in relief.........

If they are sucessful, the next game they do the same thing with their #3 guy, trying to "buy" some innings later in the week for the top arms........

They can afford to drop 1, but no more than 1 game........ They need to gamble early in the week, instead of getting to the weekend with no arms left and being in a must-win situation.

Dont you just hate having to save your pitching? I've seen it backfire before, guess thats why you called it a gamble. Our jv coach tried it last week (dont know why) and it probably cost our boys a share of the conference title. Our jv's are loaded with sophmore arms and he starts a freshman, lets him give up 8 runs in 1+ inning before he pulls him and.... bye-bye first place. A veteran coach knows how to work it when he HAS to though and a GOOD coach is like gold.

    Mooresville 6 Statesville 0

    Lackey 5 innings pitched.
Hulett finished the game. Mooresville scored 6 in the bottom of the 5th. Or something like that, oh well so much for saving arms.

I have fairly reliable sources that tell me that Mooresville's intent is to throw averything they have into winning 3 of their 4 remaining(2 of 3 now)games, Statesville, North Iredell, and East Rowan and hope that Northwest will beat Kannapolis and West Rowan will beat East Rowan, making their game with West Rowan inconsequentule to how they will finish in the conference.
