NPC final week situation

Tank...Mooresville is not done yet.This very young Kannapolis team has to take care of business at N Iredell first before Mooresville is done.This young Kannapolis team seems to beat teams they are not suppose to beat and lose games they are not suppose to lose.Just have to wait and see which Wonder team shows up at N Iredell monday nite.

 

Technically you are right (as usual) yank. I guess we still have a 10% chance. Thats why they play the game, right!

KtownYank and Intimidator,,,, You guys have heard it correctly and the Mooresville head coach knows this also. When 2 teams finish tied and they both split during the regular season, the next tiebreaker is "how did you do against higher seeded teams". Thus Kannapolis beat Northwest Cabarrus,,, while Mooresville didn't beat either NW or W.Rowan. Therefore the 3rd seed for the conference tournament belongs to Kannapolis,,, PROVIDED the Wonders beat North Iredell tonight. There will be NO playoff game.

However, the 3rd seed for the state playoffs will be decided on who advances the furthest in the conference tournament, and this is when a playoff game may be necessary if both teams are eliminated the same round.

Tank, you actually made a VERY GOOD point. All this talk about the Mooresville coach using his pitching so wisely last week just to win 3 out of 4 games, kinda backfired on him at the last minute. Yes, if NW would've beat Kann, then Mville could've lost to WR and still got the 3rd seed. However when Kannapolis upset Northwest on Fri.night, THIS CHANGED THINGS and your Mooresville coach simply didn't change his strategy to best help his team. He simply didn't realize WHAT YOU JUST SAID. As soon as he heard the final score from NW/Kann, his strategy should've changed. At that time, your game with Lake Norman meant absolutely nothing. You could've lost that game and still got the 3rd seed by beating West Rowan (a higher seed than NW). He should've rested Tyler Lackey, Josh Haire and any other key players,,, saving their energy for the West game. Its easy to sit back and 2nd guess coaches, but after Kann beat NW, this was really the case and your coach missed it.

Instead, Mooresville struggled for 8 innings in the hot Sat. afternoon sun with Lake Norman in a game that meant absolutely nothing after the Kann/NW score, because (again) all you had to do at that point was win against West Rowan. Who knows what would've happened in your game against West Rowan if you had a fresh and rested Lackey, Haire & Co.?

 

What if Mooresville HAD done as you said and "threw" the Lake Norman game. West Rowan has the best team in the conference and it would take a perfect game from us and an off night for them, then we are looking at having lost two games and lost all hopes of a playoff berth. We took care of business last week and played well. All of the hope we have of making the playoffs now is BECAUSE we BEAT LAKE NORMAN. Please if you are going to post KNOW THE FACTS!!!!

 

MHSfan, no I didn't say "throw" the Lake Norman game. I'm giving Mooresville more credit than you realize, because I believe you could've beaten LN and still rested Lackey (at least him), which would've given you a better chance that night against WR. And lets remember that a Moor sweep last Saturday would've completely eliminated Kannapolis.

However, your coach took the "safe" route, he put all his eggs in the Lake Norman basket, and thats fine if your happy with it. Good luck in the conf tournament with your #4 seed...

 

That is right. ANYTHING can happen. That is my point. All of what you said in your scenarios would not have been possible IF we had lost to Lake Norman. That was my whole point in my last post. I usually do not post, but I support our coaches and if more people would maybe the kids would buy into the program more. I do not like to see fans bashing the coaches. And the point about "resting" Lackey. He was the DH for heavens sake. He did not play in the field until late and then only for a few innings.

Btw, I support most coaches too. This whole point was initially mentioned by a Mooresville fan.

 

One last thing before I sign off. Tank, what about your original quote in this thread about not trying to steal a win. Sounds to me like you are waffeling a bit.
