Does anyone know what the rule is on intentionally walking a batter in NSA. Do you have to pitch to her or can you just tell the umpire you want to put her on? I had a situation this past weekend where one of my hitters was intentionally walked and the pitcher rolled the ball on the ground from the pitchers mound to the plate for 4 pitches.

Don't play NSa alot but I believe U have to throw the four pitches and the catcher must start behind the plate.

We played in the NSA World Series last year and were told by the umpire that we had to throw 4 pitches to intentionally walk a batter. We were told later by the NSA director that we could have asked to just put the batter on. I don't know what real answer is.

    depends on the ump

we have had it both ways this year in nsa, rock hill, could put batter on base, state, had to throw four pitches. but on a lighter note, you do realize that those pitches the girl "bowled" to the plate were live? my dd would have tried to tee off on one of them if possible, got a double last year doing that, lol!!!

Challengers won a big game in Lexington Dynamite by hitting one of the pitches that got to close to the plate.

The only problem for us was that the pitcher rolled the balls all the way from the mound to the plate on the ground. I didn't think you could roll them on the ground like that. I would have liked for them to throw the ball and hopefully she would have made a mistake and got it close to the plate. Had my number 4 hitter up in the bottom of the last inning. She had won a game for us the day before in the bottom of the last inning. My DD had just hit a 2 run homer to get us within 1 run at 5-4. This was par for the weekend from the umps though. We had terrible umps all weekend.

    Reply from Eddie Ray Cantrell

I E-Mailed Eddie Ray Cantrell, who is NSA Executive VP & National Director of Umpires Quoting Him " Well, thats a new one. But there are no restrictions as to how she intentionally walks batter. ITseems to me that she is doing it that way because she's not real good at pitching outside or she's not confident in doing so. the only restriction that could be placed on this if she did it to make a travesty out of game. And even then, we would be reaching for straws"

Well to me that is a travesty of the game. It is a joke. Play the game the way it is meant to be played. I understand walking this batter because she beat them the day before in the last 1/2 of the last inning but to do it the way they did it now that is a real joke. It is a shame that the NSA rule book will allow bowling during a softball game!!!
