I know we have game times and scores on another thread, but I wanted to compliment the group running the World games.

We have been on time (most times few min early), the umps have been consistent and fair, and they even installed some very nice shade tents at most of the fields that didn't have shade trees.

The brackets are up to the minute also....

I'm no homer, but this has been done right.

Most of the time you only hear people squawking about this or that, just needed to be said.

I watched a world series game today, and the winning team was leading by 10 or 12 runs. The coach of one of the teams had a player that hadn't batted in the entire series. He asked the umps and the coach of the other team if they could have another out so this girl could bat in the world series. She was the one to bat next when the last out was made. Everyone agreed and the young lady came to bat. The girl swung at a hard pitched ball, and it came off her bat striking the catcher in the face mask. The catcher went to her knees and seemed to be disoriented. She said she was able to continue. After the girl finished her at bat the game was over. Catcher came in and complaind about not being able to see good. The parent of the catcher was furious and went after the parent of the girl that had not batted in the world series. What I'm trying to say here......... is when a game is over........... it should be over to keep things like this from happening. In the 5 games they had played it looks like to me the coach could have let her bat before their final game. What do you think? Should they have let her bat?

Sorry, this was an elimination game. Either team went home if they lost!

cometfan, what i meant was that they had pool play games at first, why not get everyone in during the pool play games just so they can say they played???

    Nice intent...

...but I've got come down on the "play by the rules" side on this one. It appears that almost everyone was cool with the chance for this player to get a shot at the plate. To me, 1. her coach should have put her in the right way, period. 2. Catchers dad could have protested prior to this special favor. 3. I'll bet both the coach and the catchers dad feel like morons. Both of these guys made mistakes in judgement as we all do when our DDS are concerned. I hope they read this....Hey guys, if you are fortunate enough to be a part of fastpitch, soccer, dance, etc. that you and your DD will remember forever, I, speaking from experience, wish you the best as coaches and dads or both. Don't SCREW IT UP, LET THE KIDS PLAY. Trust me friends.
