NW3A-4A

Watauga is to host first round NW3A/4A. Women hosting Fred T Foard at 4:30pm on Tuesday with the Men hosting S Caldwell at 6:00pm. The road conditions don't allow games on Tuesday, then the games will be played Wednesday at a neutral site at Hibriten. If the schools can't come to Boone due to road conditions, then how can Watauga travel off the mountain to a neutral site under the same road conditions? It sounds like the Watauga administration is caving to the conference powers of the Catawba schools. Watauga is never going to get a fair shake in this conference

What the hell are you talking about? Hibriten a neutral site? Um Hibriten is in the NW3A-4A....and Id imagine its hosting b/c its a central site for Watauga and the Cat Co. Schools. Want some cheese with that wine?

 

Not sure what that post means. Wataugans are the only ones NOT whining. Granted, the safety of players & fans should be the primary concern, however there have been AMPLE opportunities for these games to have been played. It's not whining to expect to play a game at home after it is EARNED. If you don't want to travel for a tourney game, then.... win more regular season games.

 

He is right there . Wat. has tried every way possible to get the games in but some school have just refused to cooperate. We have been in a conference with Wat. forever and never had a problem and were always able to work things out but all schools had to give and take a little not just Wat.

 

guys let's not blame the other schools. it's the catawba county administration. both st. stephens and fred t. foard wanted to go up the mountain last week, but when the superintendent's office says you can't put the kids on a bus, you don't have much say so. and i don't think anybody is blaming watauga, at least i know i wouldnt. they've definitely done their part to get the games in, but unfortunately the combination of mother nature and the catawba county schools central office made that impossible.

btw...anybody know the results of the watauga vs south caldwell game tonight?

 

Watauga Women knock off Fred T Foard tonight 64 to 51. The Watauga Men beat South Caldwell 75-64. The NW4A Women's Semi-Finals for today have been postponed and will be played tomorrow. These are the game times- WHS Women vs South Caldwell at 4:00, WHS Men vs Hibriten at 5:30, Hickory Women vs Saint Stephens at 7:00, Hickory Men vs Saint Stephens at 8:30. You can hear all of Watauga's games live on 100.7 MAC FM with Mike Kelly and Daniel Clark providing the coverage from Hickory High.

 

So the games are taking place at Hickory High tomorrow?

 

Yes Rob, that schedule is for today (Thursday).

 

Watugua aint going to beat Hibriten or Hickory anyways..not sure why it matters..you can play in Boone or in Florida. Your not beating Hky or Hibriten.

Didn't the WHS women defeat Hky earlier in the year? This may be one of those that if Wat. had it over to do again they would rather have saved that upset till the tourney instead of making sure Hickory is focused even more than usual coming into that game. Who knows though. It's high school athletics.
