    why vote?

I believe we all know what will happen today. I mean It's not like Coach Church is applying for the job. If they didn't plan on firing him there wouldn't be a vote at all...

I'm not 100 percent sure on this but I think with Church being AD he spends half of the day doing AD duties and the other half teaching. So I guess it could be possible he could slide up there and check out the action. But I agree that there could be a better way of handling the situation.

He would be able to make it if that's the case. Quite frankly, I wouldn't want the job myself if it is to the point where there is this kind of fanfare just to keep the job. There are a lot more important things in life than coaching, not to mention there are coaching jobs that open from time to time and he could be somewhere else, probably sooner rather than later. The Pisgah job just opened up South Caldwell is open and I am sure there are plenty more.

The vote is in. Lloyd will stay as coach at McDowell but will no longer be an AD. This was the decision by the board as nearly a 3 hour deleberation. The board said they will monitor his coaching for the next year.
    Congrats to Lloyd! :woohoo:

thanks for the update fightintitan90...Looks like there is some sort of compromise here and maybe both sides will move on. Just my personal opinion on the search for a new AD, they outta go outside the family, if you know what I mean.

    FINAL NEWS ON COACH CHURCH

This will end the rumors. The School Board Meeting that took place today ended in the termination of Lloyd Church as the Athletic Director at McDowell High School, but he will remain the head coach for the men's varsity basketball team.

I think what Dan was trying to say was they need to pick someone not at McDowell High.
