A majority of the seniors have been on the varsity squad since their sophomore year. Most of them have been playing together since they were in little league and they have never had a losing season. I think you'll be surprised in this years EB team.

Coach Hancock is just what these kids needed. It's going to be a fun season.

    Watauga 2?
i have been looking at the team being put together and I will be surprised if that's the case. Looking at the talent in Marion, Morganton, and Connelly Springs, I think a tie at 3 is more likely.

whspioneers? who all are you insinuating will be the surprises for watauga? i mean...i know you're from watauga, and you're going to pull for them whether or not the talent or skill is there. But really...who do they have? Why are you so adamant in telling us that Watauga will be good? Tell us your thoughts?

i coach the 14u aau strom in watauga and,i have seen the 19u strom play.they will be better than most think, one they have a good coach ,the players we have that you will see have a big year are ,zack, adam, allen, chad, allen came in for seth when he got hurt last year and played ok but,has worked on his game and has got alot better,we all know what zack can do,adam who is the qb on the football team is a baller, chad can shoot the ball and plays good defence.and the jv team last year won the conference.and they have played alot in open gym togather.i dont know if they will or can win the con this year. mcdowell is very good, freedom will be better, but with what has went on at east a dont know about how they will be,i do know the 19u watauga storm played very good in aau ball and beat some very good teams from all over north carolina.should be fun this year to see haow it plays out.

In the back court you will have probably the most deep and pure raw talent in the league.

Point Guard-Not sure who will start because I have been so entrenched in football but this is one of the more intresting spots on the team. Both of last years points from varisty graduated and both JV points are no longer with the team. Ethan Moyer will return at the position. He started his 10th grade year on JV and was talented. He is quick, can penitrate and dish. He isn't a bad shooter either.

Shooting Guard- Easy here. Zack Greene- needs to recover from some injurys from soccer but should be good to go. Dropped 45 against Alexander last year. Pure shooter but can create his own shot as well. Leader and league POY candidate.

Small Forward- Chad Eppley- once again needs to heal injurys. Very good defender and good shooter when he gets the chance. Needs to have an increased role offensivly.

Power Forword- Adam Chiarolanzio- Football quarterback who plays tough hard nosed hoops. Good driver to the hoop. Very physical and athletic.

Center- Alan Herndon- Played well in stints for Harris and Moore last year. Needs to improve freethrow shooting. Will be agressive rebounding and can play with his back to the hoop.

Bench- JV team won the league last year but with some deflections. Even with the defections they should be pretty decent in spells for varsity. Undersized shooting guard Murphy Fancher (nephew of App State coach Houston Fancher) will play with a motor and great smarts.

I am looking forward to the year. After we take care of some stuff on the football field.
