Until someone takes the crown it has to be the team from Asheville.

    1. ACR
The team to beat year in and year out

    2. Freedom
How will the new coach do and they have ACR at home

    3. South Caldwell
    Carter is building something good

    4. AC
Bowles is gone the line is not

    5. East Burke
    They have Fat Friday

    6. Watauga
    Is this the year?

    7. McDowell
    They will hit you

Let's be honest, if any of the teams 3-7 get hot they could make some real noise.

I'm not sure what everyone has coming back but here are my thoughts......

    1. AC Reynolds
I'd be disappointed with anything less then #1 and a DEEP run in the playoffs.

    2. Freedom
Always has the talent, but will they perform?

    3. Alexander Central
Are they becoming a consistant threat?

    4. South Caldwell
    Were last two years flukes?

    5. East Burke
Not alot returning but a great JV program.

    6. McDowell
Should be better this year, lots returning...EXCEPT their TB.

    7. Watauga
Still need to prove it to me.

In other words, we loss about 90 percent of our production (offense, defense and special teams) from last year. :lolly:

In all honesty we got some guys out there that could gel together and make this team more competitive. If Terrence "Buggy" Kincaid returns to the field this fall, we'll be okay at tailback. Buggy tore his ACL during the West Caldwell scrimmage last year, he never stepped on the field. I just hope we can put out there a defense that will at least stop teams on a semi-regular basis. Parrish Gardner should help anchor the defense along with the Mathes kid.

Here are my predictions for the conference...

    1. AC Reynolds
    2. Freedom
    3. Alex. Central
    4. East Burke
    5. South Caldwell
    6. McDowell
    7. Watauga

Spots 2 thru 5 will likely be determined by one or two games. McDowell will finish sixth because of beating Watauga. Reynolds will run away with the conference.

I hope im wrong and freedom wins the nw4a conference but heres my predictions.

    1.AC Reynolds
    2.Alexander or Freedom
    3.Alexander or freedom
    4.East Burke
    5.South Caldwell
    6.Mcdowell
    7.Watauga

As for as how the new coach will do at Freedom.Coach Watson is a real good coach and will do a great job as the head coach at freedom. He is working them hard in the weight room right now and all the players like him and have alot of respect for him.Them and alexander central could fight for the 2nd spot in the conference.

    Here we go!

    1. ACR They, on tradition have to be the team to beat, but not by much.

    2. Alexander Central They may step back a bit on offense, but the feeling in
Taylorsville is they have the best front 7 on Defense in the league

    3. Maybe a new coach can get the talent to perform up to it's potential.

    4. S Caldwell It seems they lost a lot of seniors off last years team, but
    they have a new attitude.

    5. E Burke Kind of dangerous picking them this low, they could suprise.

    6. McDowell The defense can't be worse, can it?

    7. Maybe the win over Alexander Central to close last season will have the
Boone Mountain Men playing with some confidence.

WOW! A BOLD statement there considering ACR is returning 9 from the best defense in the league last year, at least by numbers.

NW4A 2005 Points Per Game Allowed:

    AC Reynolds - 10.4
    Alexander Central - 12.6
    Freedom - 14.2
    South Caldwell - 16.1
    East Burke - 19.4
    Watauga - 20.6
    McDowell - 31.2
