After trailing most of the game, McDowell took a 48-41 lead late in the 3rd, then gave up 2 wide open 3's. After that, it was all Roberson. Roberson is a good team, and as always, ran a very crisp offense. They also beat McDowell up the floor several times, which doesn't happen often. With better defense, rebounding, and more from Hamilton, Lady Titans will still be a force by year end. I would say Roberson may have a chance in the 3A's.

Washington had 30 points/13 boards for the Lady Titans tonight. She was the only one for McDowell that could produce anything. The inside game was pretty much non-existant tonight and that is something the girls need to work on if they plan on going anywhere. Roberson, while still a good team, did their fair share to give McDowell chances to win. Ladiesfan, I agree with you in terms of Roberson. It may come down to them and Hickory for a trip to Regionals in 3A.

    Watauga Struggles

    WHS 44
    Ashe County 48

Some one tell me why a 2A team can come in and beat a 4A team on their home court? Watauga's struggles continues. Two bright notes for Watauga: 1) the new girl is playing pretty good right now. She might keep them in a few games. 2) West Caldwell comes to town Wednesday for a make up game! From the scores that have been posted, this has to be a big win fro Watauga.

For one thing, as I have watched women's basketball for about ohhhh..... 20 years now, there is not a great deal of difference in the different levels of women's basketball (at least not the difference you tend to see in men's basketball).

A good 1A women's team can play a good 4A women's team well and may even pull out a win. I have seen it done.

The difference I have seen is that the larger classifications may have a deeper bench, but the first 5 there may not be much of a difference if any (several schools I have seen over the years, the smaller schools actually had better starting line-ups).

The girls from Watauga are playing hard. Please don't go around and stir up trouble. That is the last thing the program needs.

Go to games... cheer... back the girls.... high-five them when they make a good play and pick them up when things are down... They seem like amazing young women from what you can see from the stands. They handle themselves very well.

Good luck to the WHS LAdies!! Keep playin' hard and have some fun!!! Things will fall into place.
