Congrats to South Caldwell on your win tonight. You played well and with 3 of our girls in foul trouble and the fact we didn't come out in the second half and match your effort you deserved the win. Congrats again. Time to move on and try to defend our home floor.

Great way to put it. with 31 years of experince as the dean of the northwestern 4A he did indeed out coach the foxes. i cant wait as well as many others to pack in the titandome to take on the arch rivals

First off tony, it's Kurie, not Currie...lol.

You know, Ford ended up with only 19 tonight. For me to say that she "only" had 19 is a testament of how good she is. And in all honesty, I'm not as sure the difference was as much coaching as it was the fact that McDowell has better players 1 thru 5.

Beaten is a little strong...escape might be the better term. FHS misses 4 FT's and a point blank lay in at buzzer by post player. Really felt as if FHS out played MCD except for the FT's and a couple late turnovers. They finally got some good play even without Ford in game ,3rd pd.
You guys are right about Ford, she works her butt off of screens on every possession like no one else has to in this conf. and can shoot the rock, WOW! Must of had 20+pts.
Feel sorry for the staff, seemed to have a good plan for MCD. Fhs is 1 errant technical (sc game)and 2 foul shots from being in 1st place(tied)...that's gotta hurt setting in 4th now.
Looking forward to EB game since I follow both teams...I'll win that one either way.

Sorry for the confusion...what I was trying to explain was that McDowell is deeper than Freedom. Freedom has Ford and then it drops off significantly. Where as McDowell has more weapons in spots 1 through 5 (Greene, Washington, Smith and Hamilton). Right now I think Ford and Washington are close to equal. I would give Ford the advantage because of her shooting ability and the fact that she is so advanced as a freshmen, but Washington is a more athletic player and she hustles on every single play.

    My Bad on kurie

Bigdan,This was the Fourth time I have watched freedom this year and it was by far their best overall effort. To have Ford only score 21 and still be in it at the end is a testamony to that. Erving played good and the 30 girl hit some key shots. They played great defense packed in the zone and not allowing McDowell to get into their game.{of coarse Smith getting 4 quick fouls,a couple of them being touch fouls:77321_bs: also helped the lady patriots cause} That is why the coaching move by coach Silver with a little over 2 minutes to go worked great, forcing the lady Pats to cover McDowell one on one which was much to McDowells advantage. This freedom team will be a team to be watched by the end of the season. And what about the lady spartans. We both called that on our picks.I knew the lady spartans were good enough to beat the lady rockets but to do it on their home turf with the rockets undefeaded had to smart. Freedoms coach fox was asked by wbrm's van mckinney last night before the game who she felt the best team in the conference was and she replyed"without a doubt mcdowell and then she said she thought south caldwell was the 2nd best. The lady rockets looked good to me when I watched them play freedom but they really live on the threes and some nights that can kill you. :thud:

AC Reynolds lost AT South Caldwell last night. You made it sound like the game was at ACR when you said it was on their home turf. Also ACR was in foul trouble most of the night as three of our starters fouled out (including Alex Thompson), while ACR never got in the 1-1 in EITHER half. Now don't get me wrong, I am not blaming the refs on this loss, ACR was out played (especially in the second half), and we failed to shoot well, however when a team is in foul trouble and two of your leading rebounders are in foul trouble its tough to manage the inside and that is where SC controlled the second half to their credit. Again I congratulate the Spartans on their win, however I have no doubts that ACR will be back and ready to play come Tuesday. I'll be interested to see how McDowell does down at SC later in the year, they are a tough team at home!

    sorry my mistake

My bad,I thought the game was at Fairview. I know what you mean about the foul trouble. McDowells lea smith was called for her fourth early and that really hurt the titans inside game. the spartans are a very physical ball club so I know you guys had your hands full down in hudson. after watching reynolds play freedom last friday I thought the spartans had a good shot at beating the rockets because of their size and speed. Your right about the titans when they travel to South.:agreed: It wouldn't surprise me a bit if they pulled off a win. I still wish the rockets had won last night so McDowell could have played you guys as unbeaten this tuesday. It still should be a good game.

This Tuesday will end the first round of conferece games. I look for there to be a 3 way tie for 1st palce after Tuesday. I think the Rockets will get a win against Mcdowell in Asheville as they should match up well against them and they know they have to protect home floor this year. 1 question where did Reynolds play Freedom at in the first meeting. I know SC and Mcdowell won at Freedom in close games so if Reynolds has to go there next time Freedom could play the spoiler roll. Suprisingly one of the games I worry about is when SC has to travel to Wat. For some reason they seem to struggle up there. Hopefully they won't totally overlook Alexander Tuesday. Stranger things have happened
