Rann and Holt are the two girls for Hopewell that I was talking about. The nw4a can do just fine this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see Reynolds, Mcdowell or SC in the finals. If SC can make it to playing S. Meck they will have to find a way to get by them. I don't think they can match up well with their size but Lakey does play bigger than she is. I don't know anything about the rest of their team but from what I hear they must be pretty good. The last time SC played them I think was 3 years ago and SM had 3 girls over 6 ft.

Any word on East Burke? I see they still have West Charlotte playing no one, does anyone know if EB got in?

I sure hope they do. Nothing against Freedom at all, I'm glad they get to play and wish them all the luck in the world but they finished I think 3 games behind East burke in the conference. If they were to get in and E. Burke didn't it would be terribly unfair. How you finish in your conference should be first and foremost in making the playoffs

EB has to be in, J. Robinson is a wild card listed at 12-12, and EB was 12-11 after the regular season!

    agreed...East Burke should be in.

Personally I think the NCHSAA needs to do a better job in keeping up with the records of the different teams. If you look at the printed brackets, I think the records of teams are inconsistant. It looks to me that some teams may have counted endownment games and some teams may have counted tourney games when compiling overall records and reporting them to the NCHSAA. Crest is a good example, they're listed as 14-11. I had heard from other message boards that teams can only play a max of 24 regular season games. Freedom's record shown on the brackets is 13-11. One of their lossess was in an endownment game. Somebody on this board (and other forums) stated that endownment games were not counted in the Wild Card selection.

What worries me in the case of the Wild Card team that West Charlotte is supposed to play is that a team other than East Burke may get that spot. Independence had a similar record to East Burke, after winning two SW4A tournament games. I think it would be terrible if Indy gets that spot because they incorrectly reported their overall record.

I agree this is a tough matchup for McDowell. The formula is pretty simple. Kurie will have to score a lot, and Hamilton will have to carry her weight. Either one of these things doesn't happen, and McDowell will have a hard time winning.

Now for South Meck. I haven't seen them this year, but I did last year, and they should be a shoe-in to win it all.

Joy Cheek 6'3" going to Duke. All-American.
6'4" I've momentarily forgot her name (Erica something?), going to Notre Dame. I think All-American?
Betsy Horowitz 6'2", I think has a volleyball scholarship.

Oh, and they have some good guards also. They did somehow lose to Butler recently, but any loss will be an upset, especially at their gym.:agreed:

That don't sound to good for us (sc). If we win our first game we will probablly play S. Meck. At least it won't be at SM. The game should be at East Burke or Freedom. Looks like Reynolds has the best chance to advance furtherest in the playoffs as far as the draws go. hopefully Mcdowell can beat hopewell and S. Meck and SC can win thier game. That would make for a SC Mcdowell matchup

I can tell you right now there is a ton of pressure among the upper-tier teams in Charlotte (South Meck, Harding). A Char-Meck school hasn't won a State Championship in nearly 20 years, but the media is depicting South Meck as one of of the best Char-Meck teams in history.

From talking to those "in the know" down in Charlotte, Butler beat South Meck with their speed. I think if McDowell or South Caldwell could expose South Meck it would be in terms of getting up and down the court at a fast pace. But for a team to be able to run, they would have to hold their own on the boards.
