Well, here are my GUESSES, and I stress these are just that, guesses!!!

Butler 77 Freedom entered the playoffs through the backdoor but will exit through the front door. But goodnews girls you will have ford back next year and south caldwell will return to bottom of the pack unless they can get out and recruit some more kidds.

West Charlotte 55 East Burke will pull off the upset.

when reynolds beat them at south meck a few years ago that is what they did... ran them down... the big girls couldn't keep up for 4 quarters... i am sure they are at a different place now, but that is how reynolds beat them down there...

mcdowell might be able to expose that, but with south caldwell's short bench i think they wouild struggle to do it... as a rule, it seems like the charlotte teams are faster than us anyway, so butler might have outrun them, but we may not have the athletes in the NW4a to do that...

gonna have to take it at the big girls, draw fouls, box them out, draw fouls, take a charge (if you are brave), draw fouls... beat them with fundamentals...

i think the joy was only a freshman or sophomore then...

 

Yeah, it was two years ago, she would have been a Sophomore then and yes we did run them down (and shot well), but man they were TALL.

I feel like Freedom will benefit from not having to play a NW4A team. These first round matchup, if they don't invlove a lopsided matchup can be hard to pick because coaches can't prepare their kids over a weekend.

 

SM vs McDowell

Big Dan,

Butler beat SM a few days ago because one they didn't stop Jessica Freeman the frosh point guard who torched them for 20. Two, they didn't box out, got out hustled and rebounded which I found absolutely embarrassing. The third thing is they definately got out X's and O's. That young lady at Butler came from the college ranks and will definately be successful at the HS level. All that being said, I hope South was embarrassed by their performance and they better know that they will have to play their best games when they play the mountain teams. Especially the Mike Silver coached teams. I saw them get killed at Providence Day earlier and I am sure that they are much better than they are now. I hope South can give McDowell a decent game. South has all the talent but, is not well coached and never has been. It will show in this game. You need fundamentals at this stage of the game and South does not have it. Tall yes, fundamentally sound far from it.

South Meck vs HP Central

Can anyone on this board give me info on HP Central. I know they have Kristen Phillips and Allison Spivey. What is their style? How many will they play?

Coach Carter does not have the deep talent pool that he has had in the past. But as usual, this is a very disiplined and well coached team. Coach Carter would have to be the x factor for this year's team. A couple of seniors that have stepped up for him here lately is Laporsha Davis and Meredith Webster. Both are very quick... Davis is a solid defender and ball handler and Webster can shoot, don't give her anything open or you will pay... They are a very tenaciously aggressive team that will take anything you can give them and even take a lot you don't want to give them... They have been up and down this year but seem to be on an up roll right now. I would give South Meck the edge on them... but that is with reservations. Like I said Coach Carter has been here and so have a lot of these girls... If anyone can bring out the best in them Kenny can... It should be a great game... South Meck +2
