I would have to disagree. When you take a group this young that everyone here picked to finish at the bottom and have the kind of year they did that takes coaching. Not what Mcdowell or Freedom did. I could have won with the talent they had and I don't have a clue how to coach bball. But I know usually the conference champs get COY. But that shouldn't be the norm. And by the way Thad, I said the same about you your first couple years of coaching softball at Freedom. You should have been COY even though you didn't win the conference so it isn't just because I bleed SC moroon. Parham did the best job in the conference this year, hands down

I won it my first year and then again last year, but I wouldn't have won it if Bolick had finished the year. He went 12-0, it's kind of hard not giving it to someone who runs the table. If Parham could've upset FHS or MHS, then maybe or if McDowell or us had lost to someone else then maybe..

McDowell is very talented, but at Freedom, you better be pretty sharp in the coaching department the way we are defended every night.

I think this statement helps my case. Alexander went still went 12-0 after Bolick got fired before the end of the season so it wasn't his coaching. But if he had stayed till the end he would have gotten COY just because they had the most talent didn't lose. Coy should be to the coach that does the best "coaching" job. As that circumstance proves he wasn't the best coach in the conference that year.

I agree to a point, most of the time it's just assumed that whoever wins the conference should be COY and POY or if you go undefeated. I think it should be whoever does the best coaching job though. AS most people picked SOuth to finish 5th or 6th those same people picked Freedom to finish anywhere from 3rd to 5th, so the tradeoff is about the same except Freedom beat everyone else and played McDowell closer than anyone else.

It's a tough decision and one I wish the media and AD"s also had a say in instead of just the coaches

    knowing how to coach

SORRY- IF YOU DONT KNOW BASKETBALL YOU CANT WIN. I HAVE WATCED FRANKLIN COACH, I WOULD PUT HIM AGAINST ANY COACH IN THE LEAGUE, BOYS OR GIRLS I WONT GO INTO ANY DETAILS BUT THE GUY KNOWS BASKETBALL AND HE KNOWS PLAYERS. YOU WILL SEE THIS AS THE YEARS GO BY. IF HE STAYS A HIGH SCHOOL COACH. EXCELLENT COLLEGE POTENTIAL. IF IT WAS SO EASY HOW MANY FANS DO YOU THINK WOULD COACH? I HAVE TO QUESTION YOUR FANHOOD.

And where is that guy tonight?? In Winston Salem taking his girls to play... the other coaches that everybody keeps talking about are either in the stands or at home listening on the radio wishing they were in his shoes. How does taking your team as far as Franklin has not count for something in his ability to coach?

TitanFanForever,I guess you know your preaching to the choir here and I agree 100% with you. I remember when Coach Franklin was coaching the boys JV team a few years ago I told my son that one day he would be a great Varsity Coach and this year he proved me right.

Has anyone heard the final on COY, POY, and All-Conf.? I thought it was to be released after all NW4A teams were eliminated from states.

Washington is the first Lady Titans player to earn the award twice since Anna Atkinson was named player of the year in 2002-03 and 2004-05. Washington finished her career with 1,975 points and 629 rebounds, and is likely the Lady Titans' all-time leading scorer (records from the 1970s are incomplete).
