Kinda of bored today so I looked up some stats. Thought it might be fun to see how we have fared over the last 3 years and if the same teams are at the top from years past. I wish i had some stats from further back to see how the programs have gotten better or fell off. Here's what I found.

    2008 ---------- Conference Finish
    AC 12-0--- 21-5 - 1st
    ACR 8-4--- 16-11 - 2nd
    Fre 8-4--- 16-9 - 3rd
    Wat 5-7--- 9-14 - 4th
    Mcd 4-8 --- 7-14 - 5th
    EB 3-9--- 7-11 - 6th
    SC 2-10--- 8-15 - 7th

    2007
    AC 12-0--- 27-2 - 1st
    Fre 10-2--- 21-6 - 2nd
    mcd 7-5--- 14-10 - 3rd
    wat 5-7 --- 14-13 - 4th
    ACR 4-8 --- 6-16 - 5th
    EB 2-10--- 2-17 - 6th
    SC 2-10 --- 8-15 - 7th

    2006
    ACR 9-3--- 13-10 - 1st
    AC 8-4--- 18-7 - 2nd
    FRE 8-4 --- 18-8 - 3rd
    MCD 6-6 --- 11-10 - 4th
    Wat 5-7---- 11-12 - 5th
    SC 4-8 --- 12-11 - 6th
    EB 2-10--- 6-14 - 7th

    Total
    AC 32-4--- 66-14
    Fre 26-10--- 55-23
    ACR 21-15--- 35-37
    Mcd 17-19--- 32-34
    Wat 15-21--- 34-39
    SC 8-28--- 28-41
    EB 7-29--- 15-42

Ok lets hear some of your thoughts. It would be fun to see 3 years prior for comparision as it would show who has built a program and who has backed up. I know Thad has made the biggest improvment of all at Freedom and SC who used to be a power has fallen way off. Watagua improved for sure. ACR and Mcdowell have stayed about the same with up and down years and EB just has never been a factor

Good info there . Looks like the last 3 years have been AC, ACR and Freedom.
When we (SC) first came into the nw4a we did pretty good. Won or finished in the top 2 of the conference every year. Had some good battles with AC and ACR. Freedom was always the last place team. I think they went several years without winning a conference game. Some coaching changes took place and Freedoms new coach put a lot into the program while our program went the other direction. In the last three years it seems we and Freedom switched places. Shows what a difference dedication and ability in the coaching dept makes. Look what Sherrill has instilled in Alexander County. His teams fell off some in his absence but the program he established county wide was still in tact and carried on through. Now he has come back and the program there is heading back tp the top. Some even picking them to win the states this year.
I was kind of surprised to see our numbers for the last 3 years. We have only won 28 total games and 8 in conference. Not good there. Hopefully we can improve on that this year

There has been a shift at a couple schools it seems. I've been very fortunate to have some very talented players and with that softball took a huge turn here at Freedom over the past 4 years. We are very proud of what we have started and I hope it continues for a long time. Our record last year was actually 19-9, but anyway it's has been a lot of fun seeing the kids want to play softball here.

Previous years record at Freedom - I wish someone had the conference records for these years. It would be nice to compare and see who all dominated and where everyone finished. I bet Brian at Watauga had his, I'm sure someone at AC has theirs.
    2004- - 5-16 (0-12)
    2003-- 1-21 ( 0-12)
    2002-- 0-23 (0-12)

AC has been very strong- Coach Bolick did a good job- look at the records. I think he had a couple years the Taylorsville would call average, but he also had a couple good years as well.

Its sad to know that the NW4A is almost over. There are a lot of people that I enjoy and respect in this leauge. Some I consider very close friends..

It's also enjoyable to read some of your posts and see what true fans think about each team. Most of us on here have always been very respectful too.

Thanks for your comments and good luck to all this year.

Coach Fox; first let me say you are being to modest. you have done a great job turning around the program up there.

Here is a little info about as far back as i can remember about SC.

2002 AC won the conference and SC was second with ACR third
2003 SC won conference, ACR was second ans AC third
2004 I think AC won the conference again and SC was second ?? not 100% sure on this one

Maybe someone can fill in some blanks for us

First Game @ Freedom under the new lights...

    Hey Coach Fox,
I'll not soon forget the first game at your field under the new lights in "06... Great crowd, even better game, challenging weather, all the elements of a GREAT game! To this day, that's still THE most entertaining and exciting High School game I've witnessed. We lost, but that doesn't even matter. I wish someone had recorded that game... Coach Larry Brow resigned at the end of '06 season due to a knee problem and to concentrate on football... Erin says hello. Happy Holidays to you and your bunch!

    Missing a couple of records...but
    Watauga
    2005 overall 8-12 6-6 conference
2004 overall not certain 4-7 conference
    2003 overall 6-16 3-9 conference
2002 overall 4-16 conference not certain

I'd have to do some digging to find those. I have not been able to find 2004 for some reason. This is with Watauga adding a much more difficult non conference schedule than early on at Watauga. Last season Watauga played Central Cabarrus, Reagan, and West Forsyth(twice), to name a few.
