Watauga's Struggles

I have been pretty quite this season and have been trying to support our team and the new coach. But having watched the girls play this season, they are taking a step backwards from what they were. Watauga should have beaten ACR, EB and SC this year. We are more talented than all of those teams. Some way, coah finds a way to screw things up. I have been to almost every game this year and I have never seen the girls play any defense other than man to man. Mix it up some, especially if you are playing man and the other team is killing you. And the inbounds where everyone just runs around does not work! OHHHHHH, I could go on and on.

Yes, we have a better record than last year, but Dixon would have had a better record this year too. These girls have a lot of talent and the coach is not meeting the standards and the girls are going backwards. Our loses have been on him alone, not the girls. And don't get me started about the rest of his staff (assistants, jv, etc..)

I admit, I was one of the ones that thought Dixon needed to go, but since Dunnigan and Eggers did not get the jobs, I am wishing that Dixon had stayed. He would have won the games at SC and at EB, no doubt.

The squeaky wheel gets the oil in Watauga County and I think it is time to start squeaking! We need a change, FB is his love and let him coach that!

 

Idk if you've heard but I think the girls actually like their coach for a change and it's people like you that keep them from supporting their coach. They've hung in with most of the teams and they will start winning in the second half of conference. He's a lot better of a coach than the last one and you can ask anyone you want and you will get that same response. So why dont you and everyone else start supporting them a little more and maybe theyll improve.

 

KEEP DREAMING! Watauga was never in the game against EB. I can understand you saying that if you lost by under 10, but 21....I want some of the stuff you are

well in years past it wouldnt matter how well we played ac would have been beaten by morea than thirty...and your comment sounds to me like you are still degrading the program at ac...i think you need to come down off your little pedistool and give some credit to a much improved ac team instead of saying they played well and we didnt show up and they still lost...thats a smart ass comment and i think you need to just get over yourself...

I was there

I was at ACHS last night. I saw Chapman play some pretty good defense on Ford. Created several turnovers that created lay ups. Maybe Freedom looked past the Cougars a little?

All in all it was a big basketball night (don't hear that much) at ACHS. The NW middle school conference tourney was in the old gym. The first game was East vs West Alexander. Thanks to our Lady Cougars for coming in to watch what could be some future teammates.

Sure feels like the future of girls basketball is brighter than the past. Not sure yet, but that is how it feels right now.

 

My smart ass comment was brought on by the one from an AC supporter on here. We were completely outplayed for most of the game last night and I gave AC credit.

But you are correct, in years past it wouldn't have mattered AC would've been beaten bad, but they are getting better and are not the dormat of the NW 4a

 

Not all of the varsity girls like their coach and not all of them have confidence in him. More are losing confidence as they go along. And as a parent, I have heard several parents that are not in total support. This team should be winning. And when you see your child taking steps backwards from what she was, it is discouraging. Both the previous and current coach have their strengths and weaknesses, but we just feel like we should be coming out on top in these games. And for them to win games the 2nd time through conference, he will have to change the way he coaches. NW4A is full of very good coaches that have out coached him the first time through.


And NW1Fan, I guess when WHS came out and cut the lead to 3 early in the 3Q means we were never in the game. The way we played EB should have won by 40 pts. They just missed way too many layups. Even your coach would admit that WHS has better basketball players and athletes on their team. The difference is the quality of your coach!
