Cougars Had their chances all night long. Defense Stepped up tonight, forced turnovers and put the team in situations to win. Normal Night for the cougar offense penalties killed them. Obviously they still havnet developed a running game, I dont believe you'll see one of those until next year with a Sophomore getting the start tonight. Russell Played well again tonight. Young Cougars just couldn't seem to punch it in when they needed it.

    McDowell - 384 yards

    Rushing
McDowell 44 rushes for 235 yds
    Kincaid 35 for 225 (6.4 avg)

Watauga 43 rushes for 353 yds
    Breitenstein 16 for 205 (12.8 avg)

    Passing
    McDowell 7 of 23 for 113 yards

    Watauga 7 of 11 for 162 yards
    Chiarolanzio 7 of 11, 1td

    Other Stats of Interest
    Watauga
Baine Martin 173 all purpose yards, 2 int, 2 receptions, td
Martin, Steury, Wallace each with 2 catches

    McDowell
Kincaid 275 yards all purpose, 4 punts - 38.2 avg
Jordan Dalton 4 catches, 45 yards, td
    Titans recovered 2 fumbles

Good game, awesome environment, the game ball delivery was very cool as well. McDowell came to play, but just got outmatched tonight. The wet field did not slow down either back! They both had several big runs called back. Both phenominal atheletes! Kincaid found a way to get yards when they simply were not there, Eric made some quick cuts and broke several long runs. The Watauga D did surprisingly well tonight limiting Kincaids big runs. Classy fans on McDowells side tonight, and a good turnout for them as well. Good luck to the Titans, they are a few key plays away from being a very competitive team.

Parachuting in the game ball and the flag were awesome. Good time in Boone last night. Watauga kinda made it closer than it was at the end. If Watauga had not put the ball on the turf 5 times than this would have been a stomping. I was right about McDowell in every shape or form. Defense is porous. #25 Hooper was pretty good on D though.

They will step up and get someone in the NW4A. Either ACR or East Burke look out. Kincaid is good, theres no doubt but they need some other horses. You saw what Watauga had with Eric going 16-205 and Adam 22-143. Plus Adam threw well.

My friends Watauga is starting to come together especially on offense. We went to battle last night without some of our weapons and still racked up. We need David Alger back heathy and Blake Beason as well and look out.

Alexander Central had several oppurtunities to win against East Burke. The Cougars have two offensive lineman out and it hurt them. Russell didn't have a lot of time in the pocket although he threw for 350 yards. East Burke is a good solid team with some good guys up front. East Burke will have trouble when a team stops their run but they are the best team they have had in a long time IMO. That personal foul in the end zone killed the Cougars.

Congrats to the Pioneers on a well deserved win. I agree with whspioneers, this game shouldn't had been as close as it was for 2-plus quarters because Watauga had a lot of silly turnovers. If I was a Pioneers fans that would concern me greatly come playoffs.

I really thought the 2nd half was going to be interesting after the catch made by Rowe on the 4th down play and the resulting touchdown which lead to the tied halftime score. But our guys pretty much got whipped on the line in the 2nd half. You got a 250 lb linemen on a 160 pound linebacker... uh, well you know what's going to happen there?

the swampy field and poor handling of the ball was not a good combo, it was strange because that has not been a problem for Watauga most of the year. If Watauga can get healthy (Alger, Beason, Eric) East Burke could be a very good game. Watauga's D held Larry Raper to under 100, and Kincaid to a 6 yd avg put the leading tackler back on the field and we could be in for a great game friday!

EB played the worst game of the season 3 lost fumbles, 1 int and 1 onside kick lost. Someone said the AC defence "stepped up" friday night it was the EB defence that had the best night. Yes they gave up some yardes but to overcome the the poor play by the offence, and giving the ball away so many times the D gets the game ball. Practice will be very intence this week in Icard, this game was a good thing for us preparing to play Watauga. AC did play a very good game but EB did not feel they had lost control of the game. EB vs Watauga will be a barn burner very intence with alot of points.

AC passes for 350yds but only manages 16 pts........thats got to change.....300+yds passing in HS usually means you put up 30+ pts....The EB D was pretty solid late in the 3rd and all of the 4th quarter.
