You have been posting for a while and I enjoy reading most of your opinions.
But I would like to ask you to keep it more on the game and teams. There is no reason or purpose to mentioning that any parent is the topic (good or bad)
at the lunch table, other then to try and push some ones buttons.
Lets keep it on the game and positive comments about our girls.
    Thanks

    Realignment

The changes will not take place untill the fall of 2005 so for fastpitch it will be our spring 2006 season. The powers that be are still trying to figure out who should go where. There was an artical about it in todats Charlotter Observer an there is a lot of concern about not messing with the rivalres
(read; big gate games) so I dont think anyone knows what the final answer will be. Hope that helps.

IMO.......Crest would welcome any conference as they have moved in most realignment in recent decades:)p)! The people i know feel the NW4A is home and should have never left the last time since the growth of the Boiling Springs/GWU area has remained steady upward for the last 10 years. The conference realignment will be the talk all spring and summer, plus appeals till October and Finalized by Christmas..............time flys through!

    special note acfan:

I think the question now for Cleveland County sports will be the merger of the three school systems(CCounty, Shelby City and Kings Mtn) and its grand plan for remapping the school lines??? Interested bystanders here only! :)

Good luck to AC! Tell Emily to "be sharp"...............she will know what you mean! :wavey:

Sorry AC FAN but you got this one way wrong. The last time the Lady Cougars made the playoffs they were beaten in the second round not the first. They defeated a good North Meck team in the first round, then lost to Butler and Kim Bowen in a 8 inning 3-2 thriller.
This was one of the best fastpitch games I every saw and was well played by two great teams. I can still see Jessica Hefner matching Bowen pitch for pitch, and I'll never forget Jennifer Antal's leaping play at second. WOW what a game!

GOD BLESS AMERICA AND HER TROOPS :medal:

You are exactly right FP Super!!!! I rechecked and that was my bad. And yes that was a great game and alot of excitement in the stands. Jessica did step up for the injured Mecimore and handled nicely. By the way Jamie is with Jennifer Antal and Nikki Bost this spring for one last fling. Should be great for that school!!

The one thing that makes it hard on us (nw4a) in the playoffs is that we have to play teams from either the sw4a or meca 8 which are by far the two best conferences in the state for softball. The last 6 or seven state champions have come from one of these two and I don't see that changing any time soon. The nw4a is as good as any other conference in the state except these two who are head and shoulders above the rest. Just look what Hopewell did after the got to Raleigh last year. I think most if not all of their games there were stopped early because of the 10 run rule.
Several thing make these two conferences so good but the two most important are the fact that they have school choice and some players go to where they can help a team; and yes this happens quite a lot. The other factor is the travel ball in that area. Many very good teams there and this is where the average players get good and the good players become great. The travel ball coaches are usually much better than the high school coaches are and really teach the girls a lot. I think there are only on or two travel ball teams for high school age girls in our conferences area one in Caldwell county and maybe one or two in Asheville. As long as we are stuck having to start the playoffs playing against the sw4a and meca 8 it will be hard for our teams to go far in the playoffs. Give cerdit where credit is due those teams form the Charlotte area are good.

    Jamie Mecimore P Alexander
    Jennifer Antal IF Alexander
    Nikki Bost OF Alexander
    Ashley Adams IF South Caldwell
    Jessica Shelton P Watauga

Former NW4A players now on the roster of one of the top junior colleges around.

Defeated NC State and Appalachian State this past fall in Boone.
