How's things going for the teams here so far. As for South Caldwell they looked very strong in their first game. Admittedly they weren't facing a real strong opponet in Hibriten but as a team SC looked really good. Great to see Hawkins scoring! If she can keep this up,as she should things will open up for Lakey, Hobbs, and Kidd. SC should be serious title contenders in the nw4a this year if everyone can stay healthy.
On a side note congrats to Kidd; signed to play at App State this past week.

Lady Titans got a good test coming up on Tuesday night in their opener against Newton-Conover. With it being at home, I'm hoping we can pull out the win. This is gonna be an interesting year to say the least.

    Hey Big D,

I don't think I can make it. Please give me the details!

I will look for Coach Silver to really get into it this year. He will have a big part in keeping the Lady Titans on top. I hate to miss this game, but, I can't help it.

I've seen both of SC's games and they look pretty impressive. Hobbs is running the point and doing real well. Lakey is for real. Strong on the boards and has devoloped a good finish to her shots. Kidd is playing very good. She is a very unselfesh player who should take a few more shots per game. Not quite as fast as the rest of the team but a good shooter and good size inside. This team is very quick and to beat them you will have to slow them down. GOOD LUCK there

Courage is FEAR, that said it's PRAYERS.
Well, ACR put an end to Asheville High's 54 game winning streak (yeah I know alot graduated) but they still have a couple good players. Anyway, ACR looked like a team that, well was playin' their first game. They were led by Worley (30 points) and Thompson (20 points) as expected but they played an overall solid game and here is a link to the article in the paper:

    http://www.citizen-times.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051123/SPORTS0202/51122033/1002/SPORTS

On a side note the article is incorrect, ACR did lead by as many as 8 in the 4th quarter so don't believe everything it says about the leads in the game.

One more note....ACR Men looked good (even though Willie Harper sat out to rest his ankle). ACR won 84-61, 6'6'' (at least) sophomore transfer from Christ School is a huge help.

Congrats to the Lady Rockets on their win last night against Asheville. Hate to break the hearts of many Asheville Cougar fans, but their little run of dominance in Western North Carolina is over.

My take on the Lady Titans last night...well first off I hate that the 6'2" girl from Newton-Conover (Hester) didn't play last night because I always wanna see us go up against teams fully loaded, if you know what I mean. As ladiesfan said in another thread, the defense left a lot to be desired at times. N-C had the rebounding edge over McDowell for the entire game (it was something like 16-18 rebounds more than McDowell), and that was without the big girl. Defense and rebounding is definitely something that the Lady Titans need to work on. It dosen't get easier making that trip to Providence Day next Tuesday Night.

On offense, there were some good moments. I mentioned back a few weeks ago when we previewed the conference that one of the upcoming sophmores was going to be an immediate impact player on the team and last night Kurie Washington did not disappoint. Scoring 16 points in her first ever varsity game is pretty good if you ask me. Down on the post, it looked like Lea was in too much of a hurry last night. Being first game and all and plus the fact that the team are gonna depend a lot on her this year, I can see a player getting a bit nervous in the season opener. She still scored 20 points and got seven boards.

Everything is awfully quite out of Burke County so far. What's the scoop on Freedom and East Burke. I know Freedom beat Crest but what else have they done and how do they look . Also haven't heard a peep out of East burke

SC will get their first real test this coming week when they play Fred T Foard. Foard is a very good team who could compete in the nw4a. They will probablly be the best team SC will face this year leading up to Mcdowell, Reynolds and Freedom. SC has to play West Caldwell and Hibritne this week also. Both of these games will be blowouts again and I don't know how much SC is going to get out of these two games guess they can work on a few things and get thier bench players some game time experience. Looking forward to the Foard gamr though it will show what SC has or needs to work on

I thought at the start of the season that Reynolds and South Caldwell would be the nw4a powers at the top this year but with all I am seeing and hearing Freedom and maybe even East Burke look pretty strong also. Could be a 4 team race for the conference title this year with right now SC looking to be the team to beat. They did lose to Foard at Foard but so did Hickory tonight. Foard and Hickory are 2 of the best teams I've seen this year. Freedom has been looking stronger than I expected and Reynolds not quite as good as I thought they would. EB has been a big shock. Watagua and Mcdowell should have some good battles and don't be suprised to see Wat. win one of those. For me I just want to see Alexander win 1 game. Maybe we can steal one from Mcdowell

McDowell is down and struggling, but just because they get thrashed by Providence Day doesn't mean they can't play with these other teams. Providence Day is in another league, especially defensively. I think you're reaching asking Alexander to beat McDowell.
