I pretty much thought that Fredom Reynolds and SC would be good this year but I'm very surprised how well East Burke has done. I haven't seen them play but they have had some impressive wins. I'm also kind of surpirsed how baddly Mcdowell was beaten. I didn't think they would win but I did think it would be closer. Look forward to conference play then we will actually see who's got what

Providence Day would beat any team in this conference by 20+ points on any given night. MHS has a big game tuesday night against E. Rutherford at home. If we can win that game that will help these young girls realize that they can compete with anyone remaining on our schedule. I think everyone knew that P. Day would beat us twice. I was just hoping we can start the conference schedule with a .500 record and that all comes down to the game tuesday. I am a little shocked to see East Burke doing so well. This could be a year where the conference champion will have 2 or 3 loses. I do not think anyone will run the table like MHS last year.

East Burke is happy but I wouldn't put them as contenders just yet, 2 wins are vs. a Newton team that's very avg without their hurt post player & Asheville who has but 1 scorer & 1 vs. a pathetic charlotte team, a win vs Reynolds would give some credibility to the season, it will be the christmas tourney before we know how good the Cavs are. I want B.C. teams to win, but the games I saw they were hurting vs. pressure and I know McD, FHS & SC will press.
FHS & SC are much the same needing a win somewhere unexpected (although FHS did get 1 win at Roberson & 1 vs Crest & I hear crest is OK from a Shelby friend)
This week should provide a better team barometer. (if FHS really did outscore Foard in their scrimmage , that would speak volumes... since Foard beat Hickory). Good luck NW4A this week wins by all will help credibility later on!

Don't put to much on Freedom out scoring Foard in the scrimmage as acouple of Foards key players were still playing vollyball in the playoffs then. They are much better now. I've seen Hickory, Foard and Freedom and both hickory and Foard will beat Freedom more often than not. In my opinion they would beat any team in th nw4a

Games get started tomarrow. As far as I can see the conference title is up for grabs. I was pretty surprised at the Freedom Mcdowell score. I was kind of thinking Freedom along with South Caldwell might be the teams to beat this year. Now who knows? I've seen all the nw4a teams this year and right now I don't know who to pick from one week to the next. Freedom has the most explosive player in the conference in Ali Ford but not much else. Mcdowell has a couple good players and may be a little better than I first thought. I don't mean this in a bad way so hopefully I won't anger the Reynolds fans but I think they are a little overrated. I know they haven't lost but their competition hasn't beenas strong as Freedom, Mcdowell and South Caldwell. To me SC has the most all around talent. I went to their championship game with Hopewell and SC will be tough IF they don't run out of gas in the fourth quarter as they did down their. They have no bench and that will be their problem. Looking forward to seeing the games for the next couple of weeks

    1-14-06 standings

    McDowell (5-0) 13-4
    South Caldwell (4-1) 12-5
    AC Reynolds (4-1) 13-1
    Freedom (2-3) 10-5
    East Burke (2-3) 7-9
    Watauga (1-5) 3-13
    Alexander Central (0-5) 1-15

We'll be halfway through after Tuesday's games. The conference is breaking down much as I expected. I'm very proud of the Lady Titans being undefeated at this point in conference play. South Caldwell has shown that their level of play has improved. With the exception of last night, Reynolds has been rolling steadly along. Freedom is the team with the worst luck right now. They very easily could be 4-1 in conference.

Courious what everybody else thinks at this point?

Tuesday night's game at Reynolds should be a good one. I look for Kurie and Ebonique to bounce back, and they will have to for the Lady Titans to win. I wondered if they were the ones (somebody said a few players) were under the weather this past Friday.

I believe McDowell will have to go with 3 posts versus 3 guards a lot against Reynolds. I say put Dages in there and let her go. I do love to watch Jessica shoot those 3's, but it will be hard to get them off against Reynolds.:victoryg:
