Observer Sweet 16 contest week 2

The week #1 only had 3 participants - Come on make your honest best entries and we all might learn about some good teams we don't normally get to see.

First week scores: DCL26 15 points, Yankees 18 points, TJ21 16 points.

Here is the Observers 2nd version of the Sweet 16 followed by the contest scoring method. It's just for fun.

You get 1 point for each team that you name being on the list of 16, plus you get 2 more bonus points if you get their ranking correct. For instance you pick West Stanly to move up to #2 and they do get named in the #2 position, You would then get 1 point plus 2 bonus points. Then you pick Central Cabarrus to be #16, but they are in the 15th slot, you would get 1 point. You get no points for any team listed in your 16 spots that isn't in any of the 16 positions.

 

This weeks' Observer Sweet 16 is a clear example of how everyone has different opinions. The Observer left out Charlotte Christian and South Meck simply because those 2 clubs were 1-3, but yet the Observer includes a 2-2 team (WRowan) who's clearly not in CChristian or SMeck's neighborhood. I think when doing a poll you simply must look at more than just W/L records. Both CChristian and SMeck are clearly still deserving to be ranked given their competition and their talent levels.

I guess I need clarification,,,, are we trying to come up with our own Sweet 16 in which we believe is truly "our own" top teams,,,,,,, "OR" are we trying to predict what we think the Observer will come up with?

There's a difference.

You're correct and I think we need both. If Everyone will send in 2 replies. #1) Should be for the contest - What you think the Observer will come up with. #2) Should be what you think the list should really be like.

The Contest is for our entertainment, and #2 should be for everyone to get some understanding of the good teams in our area. Hopefully over time each of our lists and the Observers will get closer. What do you think about that?
