Can someone please provide link the rules for off-season HS baseball in NC? (can't seem to find them. SC has 21 days in November rule. What are NC's rules? All i can find is BBCOR, eyeblack, code of conduct, etc.)

Some 4A conferences to 4AA Committee was active this past May, but

Alas, the state playoff performance of the likes of Ardrey Kell and the rest of that crowd made it clear there are no 4AA teams in this state west of where Pat McCrory will be living.

    Different thread

To your point, some schools are really working hard now to make it past the first round of playoffs in 2013. They work hard each year. This thread is asking about "what are NC schools allowed to do" during the off-season? Some NC schools are doing stuff 5 days a week. SC allows 21 days in November to practice. Not playing watchdog here. Just wondering what the NC HS rules are. Where to find them online.

The rules in NC are this. August & November are dead periods (whenever a new sport starts either football or basketball it is a dead period). Any other time during the off season you can have 8 players while a paid coach is out there. If a coach is not present the whole team can be there. Many schools do 2 a days during this time by having 8 players in the weight room in the morning and 8 on the field then they will swap places during the afternoon. Although a lot of school don't either know the dead period rules or just don't abide by them but I think as a coach a little time off is necessary to let the body rest. Most of these players have played the HS season, showcase or legion summer season, and showcase fall season with no break. There needs to be some recovery time in there.

Technically, during a dead period (like now, Nov 1 to Dec 1) there should be nothing/nada done.

When dead period ends, then a (ONE) coach (PAID OR NOT - IF PART OF STAFF, EVEN VOLUNTEER, THEN A NO-NO) can work with 8 players in any one day. No mornings vs afternoon split shifts. No weightroom vs skill in different areas at different times. No pitchers with one coach and positions with another. No 8 jvs in one area and 8 varsity in another.

That is the rule. But as they say, rules are made to be... bent somewhat... possibly even to the point of breaking into tiny little unrecognizable shards........
