Last year at this time our family was in the middle of the "official visit circuit". It was fun but very VERY STRESSFUL. We almost "pulled the plug" after visiting the school that offered my DD first. Fortunately we didn't. She took her last visit, fell in love with the school (most importantly), team and coaches and committed (not on the visit but after a Daddy-imposed "let's be sure" period). Its still very early but it seems to be a very good fit. Ironically, the head coach at the other school left 10 days before school started this fall for a job in the Big 10! My wife and I were talking last night about how much our DD matured as a result of the recruiting process. Meeting coaches, and academic officers at each school as well as spending time with a variety of girls on different campuses is a great a great way to build confidence. Keep an open mind thru the process and remember you're picking a college not travel team!

This is excellent advice, take it. The only thing I could think of adding is a question every player should find out: If this is a large school, are you going to be happy to possibly sit on the bench, or should you look for a smaller program where you play every day?? Whats important to you???? The reason I'm stating this is that I know two girls who have left softball because they couldn't or wouldn't sit on the bench. Again, good advice Alan.

Real good points from both of you. I just wish that I could get mine to even start thinking about and narrow it down.:banginghe
