    That Was "NOT GOOD" !!!

My daughter played for the oppossing team yesterday ,and it was embarrassing at no end to see the umpire bring his unrully attitude to our home field, we are very sorry that happened to the oppossing coach...YES, "Hollywood" was definitely out of line!! You can be in control of the game, but you don't have to be a jerk about it....GURU

    Intangible

A wise coach once told me that poor officiating or whatever it may be that you deal with on the field are all intangibles (things you can't change).

The message that needs to be communicated to the players is to always take care of the things that you can. Typically if you do; the intangibles wont matter so much.......

    agreed

Agreed. The problem is that an official for any sport should be a part of the field & the event. We as coaches, players and fans should simply be able to expect them to show up and not notice their presence as much. A good official in any sport goes unnoticed and does their job efficiently and professionally. When an official becomes the game or the show, then there is a problem. You do not see the antics in good college softball that go on with some of the officiating here in HS. It is baffling to me and I just do not get it. Our kids are not allowed to place blame anywhere. We have a strict accountability we hold them to on and off the field. They do not place blame or complain and we are a fortunate program to have players that understand that point. They understand the umpire is one of six things that can change their at bat or a factor in the game. It still does not excuse an abuse of power. Abuse of power is not tolerated in many of our work places, so it should not be tolerated to the point of ruining the fun of the game for the kids or fans on a softball field. We try to keep our posts about our teams, but just wanted to touch on this respectfully as we are as frustrated as some other parents, coaches & teams out there. If we have had only a few things happen in different games to our team that would be one thing, but there is a consistent problem out there and it is not going to go away but only get worse as we have seen if it is not addressed. I will say 95% of the officials we have had do a better than average job and have been professional. We want to thank those men and women who do their best to be unbias and professional. It means a lot to the sport when that little concept is upheld.
