    On Deck

First Class organization. Their players consistantly have success on and off the field.

I agree. The Hill family are top notch folks and their success goes way beyond just the playing field

    approach

outside what you read on their website -

can anybody "with experience" define the ON DECK experience or "value?"

    - perhaps without direct comparison with CBC - SCP etc - if that is possible.

As a 7 year old, my son dreamed of being an "On Deck O." He's been playing for that organization for the past 5+ years. They are family. More than the development he receives week after week, month after month and year after year - which includes the work ethic - is how they develop these boys into men with good character. I owe an unbelievable debt to On Deck. I truly believe they have helped to mold my son into the young man he is today and someone that I can be proud of. Also a testament to the commitment by On Deck to my son and his development as a baseball player, their help was immeasurable during the recruiting process. He's verbally committed to a D1 school and I believe that's largely due in part to the exposure he received playing for On Deck and the countless amount of time his coach spent on his behalf that I am sure I am not even aware of. They care about developing baseball players for sure, but they also care about them as individuals. That may not be important to you, but it speaks and spoke volumes to me. On Deck is top notch to me in every possible way.

The On Deck Organization is a year round experience. They evaluate their players at the beginning of the year and at the end; and design workouts through the summer, fall and winter to improve their skills. It's not a typical showcase organization in the sense that it's not about playing tournaments. It's about developing players to reach their potential through quality instructions and year round workouts---they even provide SAT assistance for their players.

For them, it's never been about trophy collections, so their priority has never included winning tournaments (except the PG events they enter.) I can say this without hesitation. Garry Hill, the patriarch of the Hill family, is the finest man I have ever met in baseball. They just don't get any better.

A hearty second to everything Braves said about Garry Hill and the On Deck organization. It was a tremendous experience for my son; great preparation for what he encountered after high school.

However, if you're considering it, make certain that you understand what Braves said about their emphasis being on the development of the individual player over the time that the player is associated with them (which is not to say that they don't emphasize the importance of playing as a teammate when they're on the field...quite the contrary, in fact). Their approach requires a year-round, mutual commitment between the player and the On Deck organization to focus on continuous development.
