We all know what kind of player Tyler Tewell is, but if had continue to pitch (what else can he do?) this way, Butler will have to be a team you cannot overlook. Patrick McMahon is a Soph! Congrats you guys!

    Game notes

Guys/Gals: Please keep all regular results in the weekly results thread. This will be easier for everyone to read and also it will keep from cluttering up the board.

OF COURSE if you have a special game that you feel warrants it's own thread that is fine. Thanks.

East Rowan 2 West Forsyth 3

Kent Basinger gave up a 3 run HR in the first inning to W. Forsyth, but shut them down the rest of the way. East clawed back but left too many people on base. East is playing without members of the basketball team, most notably Trey Holmes, who were still involved in the state playoffs. Garrett Lassiter (UNC signee) W. Forsyth was 3-3.

South Caldwell defeats West Caldwell 17 - 0 (5 innings). I didn't arrive to the game until the middle of 3rd inning at which time most of the starters had been taken out for South. All 17 runs were scored during first 2 innings. I was told Jimmy Messer pitched the first 3 innings and gave up 1 hit. I spoke to Jimmy's dad today and he said he has been very sick all week so I was surprised to see him give it a try but Jimmy is such a competitor that you can't keep him out of the game.

    FOARD 2 WEST LINCOLN 1

Chad Rothlin throws a complete game, striking out 13 and allowing only 4 hits. Foard held a 2-0 lead going into bottom of 7th when an error,a hit,a throwing error,a walk, and stolen base allows west to score and have tieing run on 3rd and winning run on 2nd, but line drive to center is caught by cf to end game. Leading hitters for tigers were Andrew Wyant 1/2 (2B), 2bb, Robert Mckinney 3bb, Cory Eller 1/3 1 rbi. CVAC conference play starts tuesday with Hibriten comming to foard.

    Burns vs. Crest

I don't know much about the game, but I know that Burns won 9-5 and Adam Izokovic pitched a complete game for the Bulldogs of Burns who are now 3-0 on the season.

    Rough start for the Bulldogs

Skipped out of work a little early today to see the 2008 edition of the Nash Central Bulldogs and to meet the new coach. Yesterday the dogs took it on the chin losing 12-2 to Harnett Central. Today was not much better as they lost to Wilson Hunt 11-2.

Unfortunately there were only 3 bright spots dressed in White/Maroon. Alex Pearce (pitcher/catcher), Xavier Macklin (centerfielder/pitcher) and Marvin Carpenter (see Volunteer thread). The Methodist coach was there to see these two players and they both played well BUT the two will not be able to carry this team by themselves. It is going to be a long season for Coach Huffman. I wish him the best.
