He's the head coach and playing time is his choice. i don't like it when it is like you describe but that's the way some coaches do. If their winning it probablly won't change.
Another example is of another successful program usually the best in the state and nationally ranked but in this program several very good backup pitcher have left the team over the years because of zero mound time and some of these were the second best pitcher in the conference but the best happened to be on that same team. This coach has done this more than once and everyone knows it is for one reason and that is to pad stats and set records. Yea he wins but is a terrible coach in the prosess as he puts one girls stats above the team. but would go crazy if a girl done anything to stand out by looking different than the others on the team. so you see it's not just at your school it's at others also,

Thanks for all the replies! Seems there are many opinions which is why it's been a tough decision on what to do.

I've tossed around the idea of changing schools. We'd have to bend the rules a bit and use a relatives address, but it's still in play. My dd really doesn't want to leave the school and I sometimes question my motives in moving schools just because of the sport. She has had 2 schools (1 a pretty successful 4A) approach her about playing with them. Needless to say, the word is spreading about how things are done here.

Not sure how things were done with the old HC since my dd was in Middle School then. Good question about the all-conf players and the old coaches books. Never really thought of that, although the both play for what I would consider darn good travel clubs and I saw them as good players.

Anyway, thanks again for all the responses. It's really helped me look at it from different angles.

Welcome to the real world of big time softball, if they are as successful as you say nothing will change that is the way it is winning matters.

My DD was one of the players that left the team due to bullying by the coach. Books were not cooked on her stats and she earned all conference and won the Coaches Award her sophomore year. The new head coach told her , during her junior season she no longer had any skills and she sat the beach with 4 freshman while his travel ball pitcher pitched all the games even when her arm with being looked at by trainers. My daughter would warm up at most games at least 3 times during a game without ever playing. He would target her during practices by hitting balls harder to her and other players would comment about that to her.

I filed a formal grievance against him and made the school board aware of the situation, it sounds like nothing has improved. I was the only parent that did complain and I feel that if more parents will bring this to the attention of the school board and the AD that something will have to change. If you need to know the process to go through please send me a pm.

It breaks my heart that girls who have played travel ball since they were young and want to represent their high school can not because of the coach. This treatment of players shouldn't be allowed to continue.

Ask yourself why it is so important to play highschool ball . Run ruling teams .no competition , No playing time etc . If she doesnt keep her spirits up ,she might get discouraged and give it up completely . Hope that doesnt happen . Stick with the showcase ball .That is what will get her to college . Not highschool ball

My daughter went through that a couple years ago . Another pitcher tranferred from out of the county to her highschool and was given every inning of pitching on varsity for two years no matter what the score or who we played . My daughter pitched jv (lol) for two years a nd decided that she would not be subjected to that any longer . She was determined to play college ball without having to play highschool ball . It worked out great for her .She was recruited by several D1 schools and in the end , picked the one at the top of her list . She graduated highschool early and went on to to college this past january and has been a vital part of the pitching staff. She recently received the Big South Pitcher of the Week honors for picking up all 3 wins in a conference sweep !. Not too bad for a jv (lol) pitcher that has never thrown a varsity pitch in her life ! By the way , she doesnt turn 18 til this coming october !
