    No kidding!

Or why couldn;t they have left the Eastern Finals a single game instead of changing to a 2 0f 3.

:D...I was pulling for Lumberton...but not because they wouldn't have been tough. They were just a great story last year...plus my secretary is from there.:)

i don't know about the best but the central piedmont may be the most competitive and even league all the teams have a chance to win it. this is about every year. south rowan, and west have gone sveral rounds in the playoffs the past few years. davie and north davidson is vey strong, especially this year, and you can't forget about reynolds. now add to that the new additions of east rowan and mt tabor and you have a competitive league.

    NW4A

The NW4A is a good conference, but it is not the toughest. If it was, there would be more teams from that conference making it deeper into the playoffs year after year. Every conference has tough matchups, good rivalries, but the only way to objectively compare conferences would be how well their teams have performed in the playoffs each year.

    Top 5

Well, back to the original question, can we express an opinion of the top 5 4A conferences in NC in order? I suggest:

    Tri-7
    Cap-6
    Big East (or Coastal 8)
    Southwestern
    Northwestern

This is a tough question because if we are talking about the toughest conference, I have to assume we are talking about the conference with the most competitive teams, not necessarily the conference with the best team in the state.

I believe Greenville Rose will be ranked 1st in the state and will play for the State Championship, IMO. North Forsyth is returning an entire All State outfield and West Forsyth was very young last year, but advanced to the West Regional Championship. This is the year that South Caldwell should advance, they are experienced in playoff competition and return a ton of quality players

The SW4A is loaded as usual, but this year the conference has inherited both Independence and Weddington...they are very good. But this year, IMO, Butler HS may be the team to beat. So, you have Butler, Indy, Providence, Myers Park, South Meck, all with a legitimate chance of going all the way.

    SW4A
    Tr-7
    CPC
    Coastal 8
???- I wish I knew all the conference members, I just know teams

All conferences in the Charlotte/Meck, Triad, and Triangle. Due to population. It's simple. The Big East last year was simply an aberration.
