I have been looking but I have found a couple of different distances, so the question is...what is the minimum distance for the outfield fence, and if you place a temporary fence inside of the other fence to shorten the distance, how does it have to be anchored?

    Here's Another Thought !!

What is the minimum / maxium distance for a HR fence ?? Does NCHSA have a standard distance ?? I thought I would start another thread on another subject... So if 200' is the Minimum distance of a fence form home plate than these 190' fences are not HR's....UH-OH !!

The outfield fence distance listed in the rule book is "recommended". Since it is not "required", the distance can be anything (or no fence at all). Distance hit has nothing to do with the definition of a home run.

Yea, I can remember in high school baseball about 40 years ago we had a few of these. A couple I remember one over in Martin County and the other over in Bertie County.

Meeting at the plate. "Well if you hit it in the air into Billy Bob's corn patch it's a homer, if it rolls in it's a ground rule double".

Also at another location: "If you hit it in Jimmy Ray's woods it's a homerun. There is a ditch in front of the woods and if the ball rolls in you have to go get it, but look out for the mocassins. But if it bounces over the ditch it's a ground rull double."

Names were changed to protect the innocent but both are true stories.
