    What's in a name?

When you get to the level of Superstar status in this world you will be forever know by a single name...ie: Pele, Madonna, Elvis, Tiger, Cher, Ichiro, Napolean and Twiggy....let me be the first to introduce you to the bio of the newest addition to this famous list of people...our very own DEUCE.

Just recently joined the board here and have been reading the posts for a while after I was told about TBR by the one and only Stretchy. My name is Chris Gill, I played for one the best coaches in NC, Tommy Hawkins, for four years and went on to play at VCU and Barton. I am now an umpire for the Eastern Plains Athletic Assoc. and I am going into my 9th year. I have always had a passion for baseball and to be able to umpire has been great. I also try to help my buddy Stony Wine, head coach at LCC, with any kids who don't get a good look and want somewhere to play while they go to school.

I really enjoy the posts on this board and like to be able to find out about some of the talent rich western part of NC.

Glad to see you on the board Chris

Chris is a great guy and fun to umpire with. He has been known to toss a showcase coach or two!! OH and he was EPAA umpire of the year in 2007.

I guess I joined TBR right after this post and I had never seen it before. It is good to have some names of posters and especially some of the players. I make a hobby of keeping up with players my son has played with, against or ones that I have met. It is an amazing journey to watch These young men grow up.

My name is David Eddy. I have 2 sons playing baseball now. Nick is a junior at Brevard college and plays outfield. He played high school ball at North Henderson, where he had to fill the centerfield shoes of Seth Williams (UNC) when Seth graduated and headed to Chapel Hill, then 2 years at Blue Ridge Comm Coll where he was the centerfielder. He played AAU and USSSA with the Tri-County Tornados from 1998-2002 and with the Forest City Thunder from 2002-2004. He played All-Stars with Henderson County from 6 years old up to 14 years old. In 2002 as a 13 year old he got to go to Abbeville, La. for the Babe Ruth World Series and made the all defensive team for the series. He loves to play outfield and does a great job at it. He is a very hard worker.

Nate is my 2nd and youngest child and he plays baseball in the Henderson County rec league. These 2 boys are opposites so I'm not too sure Nate will stick to baseball like Nick has. Nate is very smart and entertaining but sometimes he would rather watch a ballgame than play in one.

I hope to get to meet the famous and well respected "Braves" when Lenoir Rhyne comes to Brevard in March. There is a great BBQ place across the street from the college now. They have about 15 different sauces you can sample. I think the name is Ed Budroux's Cajun BBQ. You will have to check it out. Speaking of food. We need to get a thread started on good eating places near college baseball fields.

    GBC Backs TBR

The Greensboro Batting Center appreciates all that TBR has done for the baseball player and teams trying to get noticed. I love seeing all the GBC kids playing for Showcase Teams all over NC and SC and everytime these kids are mentioned it makes me proud. Since the High School Baseball coverage is so limited by The Greensboro News and Record, it's nice to be able to go somewhere and see how West Forsyth did or North Davidson or Chapel Hill. To see what players have come through GBC, go to greensborobatting.com or go on Greensboro Batting Center's Facebook page. Ben Bunting, Jeremy Synan, Clint Moore, Will Myers, Matt Roberts, Hunter Ridge, Greg Holt, CJ Beatty, just to name a few. THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO!
