...This is absolutely a true story. My oldest son came home tonight after his game. He was putting new line on his reels and decided to test it out. He tied a rubber weight on the end of each line.

Now, this just happened, so obviously it is dark outside save for a spot light illuminating much of the yard. He started casting his line out to land under a huge Magnolia tree. As he was reeling it in, something swoooshed down and grabbed the rubber weighted end and took off....as my son set the hook....bam......it was a humongous owl!!!! wings spread about 12 feet. As my son was trying to reel it in, I was shouting "Drop the pole and run", but he wouldn't do it. Finally as the owl came closer to my son, he finally released it and it flew away. He ran inside and I said, 'What are you doing?" He said he was going to find a baited mouse and go owl fishing.

It's the craziest thing I have ever seen. My son going fishing...on land...for an owl...at night. I can see the future....Owl Master Classic. Who'd a thunk it

Way............he's crazy. I saw the owl. He flew back into the Magnolia tree. He thinks he so smart...sitting on a branch, being still, thinking that he is invisible. But I see him (from an inside window: No way am I going outside). That monster scares me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

    Hey Braves

Braves I think the son you are refering to is the same son that went to Puerto Rico with us last summer.

If that is the same son in question then in Puerto Rico he has water but no rod & reel and he was trying to lure barracuda to the surface with bread crumbs.
Now you say he has a rod & reel but no water so he is trying to catch a barn owl..............
Sounds to me like a new sport................

Can not blame it on the heat. Think that someone bumped the old head. There could be more damage but it wil be a very, very hard thing to find anything new with so much old already exsiting.:de-mote:

That is the best fishing uh owl story Ive heard.

Thats great. 12ft wing span? Man Id like to have seen that. I had my camera with me going into work one time and this huge bird of prey, of species I did not know now, crossed the road I was driving. I saw where he landed, got out, and took some pictures. This bird was AWESOME.

Want to start a thread related to something like these. Fishing stories without the fish or with the fish. My sons first fish? My sons first owl? etc

Cool story Braves. Can you get pictures?
