Parkwood High's gain is Independence High's & South Meck's losses...

As mentioned in another thread way back the first of the summer, it was announced that Coach Mark Mennitt and Assistant Coach Aaron Hammers would be leaving Independence High and transferring to Parkwood High to cover the baseball coaching staff at Parkwood. We now find out that Brian Cottom, assistant coach at South Meck High, will be transferring to Parkwood High as well when school begins in 2003.

As I stated, Parkwood High’s gain will definitely be South Meck’s loss with regard to Brian Cottom. I do have a profile on Brian Cottom but not one for Mark Mennitt and Aaron Hammers.

Coach Brian Cottom is a graduate of Myers Park High School in Charlotte, NC. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Health & Physical Education Degree in 1988. Coach Cottom is a former walk-on third baseman/outfielder for the Seahawks, which is part of the Colonial Athletic Association. Coach Cottom has been teaching and coaching baseball for 13 years in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System. Recently he was Varsity Assistant Coach at South Mecklenburg High School where he specialized at in-field training. Coach Cottom is formally the Head JV Coach at South Mecklenburg with a career record of 24 - 6. Coach Cottom came to South Mecklenburg from Randolph Middle School in Charlotte, NC, where he was the Head Baseball Coach for 9 years. His career record at Randolph was 85 - 24 with five conference championships. Coach Cottom and his wife, Dana have 2 children; a daughter Macy who is 8 years old and a son, Brady, who is 5 years old. Coach Cottom and his family live in Matthews, NC.

Good luck to Coach Cottom at Parkwood. He will dearly be missed at South Meck by all that have grown to know him.

What a great guy and an outstanding coach!!!...hate to lose one like him from CMS.

Coach Mennitt is very fortunate to start his new program with someone as experienced as Coach Cottom. Good luck to Brian and his family. I wish him all the success in the world

Geeez...Mennitt, Cottom and Hammers...I wonder if the Parkwood people know how lucky they are?

    Again I say to Southloop:

What were you ever thinking about?!? Just wanted you to know that you should take RL OFF your reliable TBR source list!!! RL can NOT be trusted with his inside tips for the TBR threads. COACH BRIAN COTTOM IS NOT GOING TO PARKWOOD AND HAS NOT LEFT THE SOUTH MECK COACHING STAFF to date!!!

Southloop and Chief: You should both be ashamed for listening to RL, he is DEFINITELY NOT a reliable TBR source!!!!!!
    :nono: :smash:

    Chief/Dr. Methusda:

Even if Coach Cottom does leave the South Meck coaching staff, it will definitely not be for Parkwood our crystal ball now tells us at this time. Do I hear a rumor of a Harding head coach baseball vacancy coming open soon??? Check the rumor tree, what is Coach Scholl's plan's at Harding High these days???
