Patton coach steps down

According to the news herald Rob Gregory has stepped down as the girls basketball coach at Patton High School.

 

I wonder

if he was getting pressure from school administration and fans or just felt he was in over his head?

 

I dont really know.You cant really expect a first year coach at a new school to be great after a year.I also know patton is not wanting to play us in basketball next year.

Draughn, Freedom, Patton, and East Burke should play each other every year! Patton better get use to it, they're in Freedom's conference after next year!

 

I agree that we should all play eacher in every sport.I believe we will when the realignment starts in 09.I think playing each other twice in basketball will bring some good gates for each school and im pretty sure we will play east burke and draughn twice in basketball in 2009.The reason I feel patton does not want to play us this coming year is because they dont feel they can compete and i guess they feel it will be easier in two years.I personally think they should be made play us.

 

It said in the local newspaper that he resigned to pursue his masters degree. Thats a load of crap. The administration definitely pressured him into resigning. They did not like this guy from the beginning. Its hard to expect a lot at a first year school, definitely when none of the basketball players came over from Freedom. I wouldn't have came either. And I have heard the Patton definitely isn't playing Freedom next year in basketball. I don't know the exact reason. I agree that the four Burke County HS's should play each other each year.

 

I think it may of been because of the beating both teams took this year.If that is the case then patton shouldnt play any one.did they really think a first year school was gonna compete.

 

Look Jason lets but all this in the right prospective. The reason most of Patton's teams took a beating is because so many of the players that should be playing for them chose to stay at Freedom. Yes I know they all done it legal and got deferrals from the school board but that still doesn't make it fair to Patton. Now lets take the one exception-the Mens baseball team. Those players left Freedom and took the coach with them. The Patton Baseball team could and will kick Freedoms tail.

I wasnt meaning it to bash patton.I just feel they should play us un basketball and other sports as well.I know alot of people from patton are upset over the fact freedom kids decided to stay at freedom.The kids did do it fair like u said and they did what they felt was best for them.I myself live near Patton High school and if i was a student and had a lot of friends and played coaches I really liked,I would have decided to stay at Freedom too.Alot of the reasons i think they chose to stay was the principal they hired cause many of them had her in middle school and they also hired a coach who had never had any expeirence at all.All the kids liked their coaches as well.I didnt mean to attack patton in any way.I think some of the stuff they have done like sendin hateful emails and crap are uncalled for.as for baseball patton beat freedom 2-1 when they played.
