Patton Question

I remember the big stink about Patton using Penn St.'s logo and they had to change it.

Well I'm looking on the News Herald website and they have this logo:

It's the exact same as the Orlando Predators logo for the Arena Football League.

What's the deal? I've seen that logo used by Patton before, is it their secondary logo/mascot? If so I think they've messed up again.

The logo is pretty sweet though, I could see why they'd want to use it.

 

Granted, its a good logo. But I dont think its worth another round of controversy - this time with a professional sports league.

Are we going to make yet another big deal about a logo. Patton hasn't even used that logo on their uniforms or anything. Maybe if the people put as much effort into helping this new school out and helping them get the school established for the STUDENT's sake as they put into worring about small irrevelant details, Patton would become a great institution for these students

 

It's just a question, and they would have no one to blame if they were stupid enough to do it twice. If they aren't using it, then why does the paper use it? That makes no sense.

 

Logo

This is very common amoung high schools. I can name numerous examples of high schools that have duplicated a college logo, even in sitautions where college has a copyright on the logo.

Most (such as Clemson) are smart enough not to challenge the use of their logo by a high school, as it elevates the awareness of the college or pro team.

Vance (Virginia), Weddington (Wisconsin - with different color), Butler (Gonzaga), numerous team's use the Clemson tiger paw, etc... South Florence (San Francisco), West Florence (Wake Forest), etc...

 

We all understand that, and I thought PSU didn't need to make it an issue. Some schools pay a small fee to use logos. I'm just saying that Patton got called on it once, I hope they didn't do it again.

 

From what I have observed with Patton's uniforms, stickers, decals for football, etc. I have yet to see this logo used. I'm not sure why the newspaper used this logo, heck who knows why the "newsless herald" does anything that they do. I do know that Patton's logo is the solid black "P" with red and white outline around it.
