This weekend is an important weekend for all six teams in the PBC East Division. The top to bottom is separated by a mere 3.5 games. The top four teams move onto the Conference Tournament.

Last weekend Armstrong Atlantic took all three games from USC Aiken, UNC Pembroke took 2 of 3 from Lander, and Francis Marion took 2 of 3 from Flagler.

This weekend we have the following three game series with East teams facing each other:

    #7 Armstrong Atlantic @ Flagler
    #15 Francis Marion @ #27 Lander
#24 UNC Pembroke @ USC Aiken (currently in 1st place)

The current standings for conference records only:

    USC Aiken 15 – 9 (9 conference games left)
    Armstrong Atlantic 13 – 8 (9 left)
    Lander 13 – 8 (9 left)
    Francis Marion 14 – 9 (9 left)
    UNC Pembroke 13 – 10 (6 left – one rained out)
    Flagler 10 – 11 (9 left)

From what I saw "from the street" while we were there it looks like a minor league park! From what I have seen in the PBC ( I have not seen them all) it is by far the most impressive. USC Aiken has a stadium that is very fan friendly to watch baseball. Nice museum underneath on Roberto Hernandez.

East Division as of a.m. 4/22/12

After Saturday (4/21/12) games here is where we stand: conference records only –

Armstrong Atlantic 18 -8 = one today vs. UNC Pembroke. Three games left to play vs. GA College

Francis Marion 19 - 10 = done with conference play. Must have had one rain out.

USC Aiken 18 – 12 = done with conference play

Lander 13 - 12 = five conference games left; two vs. Flagler today & three vs. North GA

UNC Pembroke 14 – 14 = 1 game left vs. Armstrong today. One rained out.

Flagler – 11 -14 = five games left; two vs. Lander today and three vs. Columbus State

My guys at UNC Pembroke are fighting for a spot to get into the tournament. Looks like they will need to win one today against a very good Armstrong Atlantic team and get some help the rest of the way.
