Friday's games 5/10

Two elimination games start the day.

Amazing that the first teams eliminated were in the top 10; #1 USC Aiken and #10 Armstrong Atlantic. Both left town with two losses and no wins. That is really going to mess up the NCAA regional rankings and determining who will host.

At 10 we have #7 seed Columbus State vs #6 seed Francis Marion.

At 1:30 the #16 ranked Braves of UNC Pembroke face off again vs #14 ranked Lander. This is a rematch of the first meeting in the tournament when the Braves pitchers could not throw a strike and walked 17 batters in a loss!

At 5:00 today the winner of the 10:00 game above plays undefeated GA College.

At 8:30 undefeated Montevallo plays the winner of the 1:30 game.

Should be a great day at the ballpark!

Columbus St. Moves to Final 4

Columbus State defeated Francis Marion in the first extra inning game, 5 to 4, in 10 innings.

Francis Marion is now eliminated.

Columbus State plays at 5 today vs undefeated Montevallo.

 

UNC Pembroke advances to semi-finals

The braves avenged a first round loss to lander by winning a slugfest 16 to 11. The Braves trailed 11 to 9 after five innings and scored seven unanswered runs.

This is the Braves second win over a top 15 team in two days.

UNC Pembroke now moves to the semi-finals for the second time in three years to face GA College at 8:30 tonight.

 

Columbus State forces second game vs. Montevallo

Columbus State pounded out 17 hits and 15 runs to defeat Montevallo 15-2. As that was Montevallo's first loss, a second game will be played tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.


The winner of tomorrow's game advances to the single championship game to be played Sunday at 1:00.

 

GA College advances to championship game

After falling behind 3 to 0, GA College put up 13 unanswered runs to send the UNC Pembroke Braves home.

GA College gets a day off tomorrow while Columbus State and Montevallo play an elimination game tomorrow at 3:00.

Great season by the Braves with second most wins in program history. Now they wait for a possible NCAA bid that will be announced Sunday at 10:00 p.m.

 

Montevallo moves onto Championship game

The #8 seeded Falcons of Montevallo scored seven unanswered runs to defeat the #2 seeded Columbus State Cougars 10-4.

In the 1:00 championship game set for Mothers Day the tournament seed #7 GA College is facing off against the #8 seeded Montevallo. Simply amazing that with all the nationally ranked teams in the conference that these two are left standing. Congratulations to both teams and their players.

 

GA College gets automatic bid with win

#7 seed GA College defeated #8 seed Montevallo in the 2013 PBC Conference Tournament 3 to 2 to get the league's automatic bid to the D2 Southeast Regional to be held next week.

Congratulations to to the Bobcats.

 

All-Tournament team announced

Congratulations to pitcher Matt LaMothe of GA College for being honored as the tournament MVP. He pitched two CG gems.
