We've got three guys from the Carolinas going down to the World Showcase this weekend.

    Jeremy Synan, NE Guilford
    Matt Holt, Green Hope
    Jonathan Cook, Hilton Head Christian

Most everyone in the state knows about Jeremy & Matt. For those of you who don't follow SC too closely, Jonathan is an '05 SS with decent size and a strong arm. Haven't seen him lately, but he had good pop in his bat the last time I saw him. He was All-State SCISA last year and All-State SCISA in football this fall.

Maybe we can get an update ......

Pre-Draft, this is one of the most prestigious showcase events in the nation.

It was held back in January and we had two guys from NC attend. They were Jeremy Synan and Matt Holt.

Jeremy Synan is a 6'1", 190 lb SS @ NE Guilford HS. To me (this is personally) he projects better at 3B. He swings Lefty and has grooved a really sweet swing. He's going to be devastating on the 3A circut this spring. He came out of this event ranked #29 of all of the attendees, nationwide. Jeremy has signed to attend NC State next year.

Matt Holt is a 6'2"/160 Pure SS from Green Hope HS. To me, he projects as a SS. He's got that nice size and plenty of room to fill out. He's a defensive specialist right now, but has plenty of promise in his bat to project down the road. Matt is headed to UNC Wilmington next year. Matt had a leg injury when he went down there that is fixed and well on its way to healing now. He still turned a 60 in close to 7.0 and was impressive enough with his glove, arm and bat to rank out #37 at the event.

From talking to our "hidden scout" that attended the event, both of the these young men project very favorable against the best players in the nation. Not too Shabby.

Braves ... next time we need to pay the airfare so our reporter does not have to walk back. We'd get the reports a lot faster. I know our budget is a bit limited (empty) .... maybe we should let her hitchhike?????

I suggested that to her. I told her I would pay her for an extra day....but unfortunately, she was not too pretty...hence...she walked

Holt is one heck of a player. I played with him for a year or two in legion ball and one thing is for sure, don't let his size fool you. He can hit a baseball. His glove is very good with a strong arm, very lanky and loose... but he can stroke it at the plate. He put on a show when Coach Scalf came to Cary this past summer, Matt was hittin the ball out left and right in BP and then hit either 1 or 2 HR's in the actual game.

He is going to have a great spring at Green Hope.
